Homemade Twins

I want to twin tip an old pair of skis for fun and urban use.
The only info that I've heard is that you need to heat the end up (on a stove?) and then jam into somewhere and bend it. I need details!
1)How would I heat it?
2)How long/When do I know when to stop?
3)What do I use to bend the end?
Or am I completely wrong and there is a whole other way? Help please.

1. make a camp fire
2. put the end in it for a while
3. when the end is like, melting, bend it on the ground
4. let it sit in cold water for a while

that should work

clamp it to something sucure and get another clamp, clamp it to the tail, bend it. that is the fast way. it might break but i did it and it lasted me for a little bit.

by stove, you mean wood stove, that is a fire surrounded by iron and it gets incredable hot because all the fire is trapped in, except for vents in the back. After the fire gets really hot stick the ski in for about 5-10 seconds, and quickly stick the tail between to boards on a porch and bend backwards, youll have to old it there for some time, a couple minutes. If you heat too much the tails will delaminate, so watch out. You might mess up first try but dont worry.

cut eight 1/8 inch slits in the tail of the ski

heat up with heat gun

put in vise and slowly bend but periodically bend the ski and move it up and down so that the tip isnt abrupt

fill slits with 2 ton epoxy so that it keeps its shape.. presto

if you use straight skiis, it wont work cause they are unforgiving

use the slits its the best way, i took a circle saw and se the guard to only go like 1/8 deep then i put like 6 slits evenly spaced across the tail, then i put the tail in a vice and used a blow torch to heat it up, heat it slowly so the skis dont catch fire, i made that mistake on part of it so theres a big black spot, but id doesnt hurt anything, once its hot start bending it, but move it in to vice so you can get a gradual curve, then epoxy the slits and your set

i used a blowtorch to melt the tails on some old straight skis i had, then riveted the tips. i then did a nice lil custom paintjob..i did it cuz i wanted a ski to fuck around with/urban

i blowtorched the tails then clamped em in a vice and bent them...the bases came apart from the topsheets (delam) which is expected cuz of the heat, so i riveted the tails. they actually feel pretty solid, i'm guna use these for jibbin my backyard setup and urban, i could prolly take em into the park cuz theyre still skis, but theyre kina sketch

if you boil water and put your tails in the water for a few minutes then put the tails under a door while they are hot and pull up, that works

yep cut slits in the tails and heat them up over a stove, thats what i did and they turned out good.. and rivet them too, coz they will probably delam. also check out skibuilders.com they had some links on there that helped me out. good luck man
