Salomon 2012 vs. Volkl Ledge

I want a new pair of skis for my season. But I cant decide which pair I should by.

I want the skis to be playful, not too stiff, and most of all carve very well off being a twintip.

So anyone tried either the 2012 or the ledge, which can tell something good or bad about them?


And the binding, sth14 or jester?

If carving is that important to you, stay away from rockered skis like the 2012

Get the volkls if you want them to hold a good edge, they have regular camber and will be way more responsive.

Also, for bindings; sth14 driver

The 2012 does also have regular camber under the foot. And is the 2012 stiffer than the ledge?

Idk which is stiffer but volkl is known for making skis that are on the stiffer side so if I had to guess I'd sayt he ledge is probably stiffer, but dont take my word for it.

Have you looked at the walls? or maybe some moment jibs? or bluehouse antics?

i own the 2012's and i finally got to use them the past weekend

my mountains not open yet so i hiked, i only skied knee deep pow, and was hitting a 30 foot jump, so ..

in the pow, these skis make some nice turn, really easy to turn with, some floatation. really fun

on the jump, felt very stable when i landed. really light, skis, nice flex, neither stiff or soft.

i dont really know what to say other than they were really fun. hope this helps.

Thank you both. I think the walls are too stiff. The 2012 isn't for powder, i got Bent chetlers for that. But i would really like to know how the 2012's feels on the groomers? The thing that also turns me on about the 2012 is that they are light, and i think they ride well in slush because of the rocker, Can anyone confirm that?

i own the 2012, absokutely perfect ski; not stiff not soft, have use it in the park for little and pros line and both go well; u can take turns on hard snow it carves very well, really stable until 60-70 km/h turnes, over it start to chatter. have use it in the pow, just in 20-30 cm and it flow pretty well for be a park-all mountain ski concept.  just salomon 2012/sth 12 are a bit heavy, compared to other ski in thre market just this. mounted it at true center or -1 cm for more versatility on all mountain. ciao
