I hate hippies

hippies piss me off so much. When you talk to them its like talking to a wall even though most of them actually pollute the environment just as much and they are so ignorant. Especially vegetarian hippes who dont eat meat strictly for the fact that an animal died when it was already dead. It just doesnt make sense.

Agreed. It's kind of hard to specify a hippie, in my opinion. I mean, most people say that hippies = pot heads. But I know tons of people who are as conservitive as it gets, and they smoke pot. It seems like "hippie" is just a word used by conservitives to antagonize liberals that especailly emphasize ideas such as "lets use less plastic bags", or "Lets use water from our local spring". Personally, I'm down with all that. It can't do any harm. Its kind of like the word Granola. When all these ignorant, inbread hillbillies around here call me a granola, I just laugh. Its pretty pathetic, the way some poeple think.

hahahahha i completely agree....this kid has to be younger then 18yrs old....he obviously has yet to travel or meet anyone other than the kids in his 1000 kid high school in rich white suburbia...dont get me wrong i came from there as well...but us "rich kids", my friends, decided to "explore" our options and decided that live music was fucking sick and the rest is history

funny, but even if this is true, who cares? in fact this whole thread, who cares? why all the hate.  Call me a hippie, but really its a lifestyle choice, its thier choice and its not your or anyone elses place to hate on it.  The exagerated stereotypes and assumptions in this thread make me laugh.

nah man you dont even know what a hippie is, hippies are like actually really smart and like super wise and in touch with the earth and stuff.

they dont just sit around all day, they actually enlighten people by telling them how they need to stop driving a car and eat leaves. i do my part by shopping at goodwill and taking hikes. im taking environmentalist classes at my community college so i can make a difference. my ecological footprint is actually really small cause i drive a hybrid.

you may think that being permanently stoned makes us stupid, but it actually makes us really insightful about life and whats really important.

Almost every hippy I know is very much active in a political sense, fighting for "social justice" and going to protests, rallies, that kind of thing. Whether you like that kind of thing or not, that is doing something about it. I don't know any hippies who just sit on their asses, they either spend their time working so they can have money to be constantly traveling, or are involved in fringe politics. How do you do "something about it"???

I agree with the pollute part. There was a large hippy gathering in my town's surrounding mountains and they left so much fucking trash. The whole reason of the gathering was to get in touch with "mother earth" and apologize for all of worlds trash and pollutants. Their lead by example techniques suck ass and make them look like straight hypocitasizers. (i know that isn't a word, quote: Bush in harold and kumar)

yes ive met plenty of real hippies, ive never met one that ive actually liked, they are extremely boring, and they are some of the most annoying people to be around. i disagree with just about every one of their "beliefs' and the more they explain their reasonings for these beliefs the more i disagree and the more i hate them.

im just the type of person hippies hate, so naturally i hate almost everything about hippies and disagree with their beliefs. we just arent ever going to get along. just like a lot of opposite types of people.

No, maybe you take it upon yourself to help reduce your carbon footprint, or you pick up trash when you see it, or maybe you are a vegetarian etc. Just people who are eco conscious. Maybe you don't do any of these things thats cool. But what i think of when i think hippie is someone who is trying to connect himself/herself with the world better and help do his/her part to be eco friendly.

I recycle, clean up trash along the road. Try not to pollute, I get 35 mpg so it's not that bad driving. I care about the environment.

That is what I said. I don't like labels but since quick notes are not your thing, heres an explanation of what I meant:

People who label themselves as "hippies" usually are NOT said "hippies". Those are people who bitch about things and are posing as said label. If you are meeting people who are quote-unquote "hippies", and they are bitching about the meat sandwich you're eating, they aren't truthfully a "hippie" and are most likely a "poser".
A lot like religious people who are "religious" and then swear, have sex before marriage, ect. Hypocrites is the correct word for this.
Also, I live in Seattle and there's nothing that can compare to Seattle or Portland for that type of person.
