People are always making threads about weather/storms and whatnot. Let's all post our weather angst/thoughts/comments here.

Storm headed in from the PNW. Supposed to bring about a foot to the Summit County resorts and much more than that for all the other ones. Summit gettin shafted as always.

SATURDAY Dry with increasing clouds – snow at night.

SUNDAY Snow favoring central/southern mountains.

MONDAY Snow favoring central/southern mountains, letting up later in the day.

TUESDAY Light snow during the day, then heavier snow at night favoring central/northern mountains.

WEDNESDAY Light-to moderate snow for the central/northern mountains.

THURSDAY Few snow showers north, sunny (and cold) in the rest of the state).

FRIDAY Sunny and dry!

Lets hope, Summit has gotten the opposite of the shaft this year though. Its been great skiing so far, at least in my opinion.

I've only had the opportunity to get up there twice so far so I don't really know the conditions of the past 2 weeks. That said, even when Summit gets a big dump by their standards, most of CO usually gets more for various factors I don't feel like delving into.

What are the early conditions at Wolf Creek like right now?  This storm is bringing a bunch their way, but I don't know if that is going to be enough to make it worth going down there.

Truth.  I've already skied some legit lines at Breck this year.  Outstanding start in the Summit area.

this first storm is coming in with a SW flow, looks like I'm going to Vail tomorrow then, they usually get the tip of those type of storms (they favor wolf creek up to aspen) combined with what's actually in the northern area.

I am kinda of confused why this threads creator is bitching about snow conditions in Summit when both Keystone and Breck have had historic openings. Keystone opened the Outback, including North Bowl, the earliest in its 40 year history. Also, Breck opened the T-bar (Horseshoe Bowl) the earliest its ever been open this week as well. And to top it all off more snow is coming this week, including 1 to 2 feet for vail and BC by Tuesday morning. This season is shaping up great thus far and I hope it continues.

I was not bitching. I was saying that in comparison to other rigions of CO, we weren't projected to get as much snow as them, which is historically true. This year is an anomaly which I will NOT complain about.

they're getting hammered as we speak. They have everything open but as usual with Wolf Creek way too early, heard a lot of talk of exposed rocks in knife ridge and so on, be careful.

Ya I can read weather reports too, but have you been there?  I have heard stories but I really want a first hand account if I can find one.  Thanks for the help though man, pray for snow.

So much weather!

TUESDAY Heavy snow, central and south, letting up by afternoon EXCEPT for the south.

WEDNESDAY Heavy snow, south.

THURSDAY Heavy snow sunrise through night for northern and central mountains.

FRIDAY Great powder leftovers in the north, sunny and dry elsewhere.

SATURDAY Sunny and dry.

SUNDAY Partly sunny and dry.

MONDAY Chance of light snow north, though the storm may largely miss Colorado.



These storms are going to shit on the snow stability.

pushed out by high pressure. enjoy it while it lasts!

it wasn't so much pushed by high pressure, but by the fact that the northwest flow turned into a southwest flow, i.e. why the south got all the storms.

Didn't say that wasn't a factor, but the flow of the storm can change how ridging/troughing set's up and even influences a storm

COLD La Nina typical storm rolling in wednesday, looks to benefit the south wednesday/night then move more north thursday/night. Large moisture airmass will be aloft around colorado, so if it moves the right way some north areas could get DEEP very sneakily.

sounds fun. too bad new years crowds will have at it

for tahoe standards, it was actually really light. i can say that cuz i grew up skiing tahoe.
