Yeah, when I was talking with my friend about it this morning, I was just trying to give him the heads up that the feedback on DBA was not great from the skiing community.  He got a little pissed and started bitching about stupid rumors being spread.  Reality is that, they don't seem to have anyone assigned to PR for this event, and the architects have become the PR people by default.  As the son of an architect, I can testify that they aren't usually the best PR folks. 

Rumors only get spread in the absence of real information. 

Anyway, this could still be a helluva party for Colorado NSers.  Hope y'all can check it out. 

Tell him I know someone well acquainted with the ski community that would love to do some PR for him :)

Seriously, I got it from someone who should know.  Up to 25,000 people will get in to see it for free.  All of the tickets say "general admission standing".   The paid tickets are for the VIP area.

OK "general admission" applies to seating if any for a specific area.  Tickets to the VIP section which is categorized as general admission (once you are in, you can roam around, and it is standing only) cost money.  In addition to the different levels of VIP sections, there is a huge area that will also be GA SO but will be free. 

The promoters were trying to sell tickets to VIP viewing before they let it out that they were opening it up to the public for free.  Stupid, yes, no, maybe; I'm not arguing that point.  I am only trying to let you know that there will be a viewing area large enough to handle 25,000 spectators, and there will be NO CHARGE for that area.  If you are pissed because the promoters are coming across as douche bags, and you want to boycott the event; that's your deal.  But don't blow it off if you want to see it, just because you think that it will cost too much.  25,000 is about 5000 more capacity than the Pepsi Center. 

Again, the website does not have this information listed yet.  I imagine that, at some point, they will throw it up there.  The guy I got this from is working directly with the organizers and he has no reason to lie to me.  Our kids go to school together. 

yeah but how horrible is that standing area? i bet its going to be a terrible view with no vendors or nothing.

Thanks for that clarification. The website is very misleading. I still don't think they will get 25000 people there, but if they do then props for them

I don't know about that but that's a good point.  I will see if I can get some more info out of him.

So the GA section will be open to the public for free on event day but they just haven't told anyone that yet to see how many tickets they will sell? Or is the paid GA (standing only) section different than the free area that anyone will be able to walk up to on event day?
