Man... that front flip looked fun (sarcasm) haha. On top of your jump being way too small, you didn't pop off of your tips. One thing you can do to practice (and I know this sounds lame) is to pretend to do a front flip on the ground, ya' know, the kind of front roll that people who do parkour do after they just jumped from one rooftop to the next. What this does is gets you to understand the feeling of going forwards, and the tuck that's required. When you take it to snow, you want to stagger your feet on the in run and pop off of your toes, paying specific attention to your leading foot, almost as if you were doing the same rolling motion. Then you throw your arms down and rotate your body into a tuck. It's not too hard once you go out and try it on a real jump.
As far as which was easier for me.... I'd have to say front flips were, but that was only because I understood the concept from already knowing how to do a back flip. Backs are really easy once you get over the fear and just go for it though. I'd suggest doing a back flip first though... if you think about it, the jump sets you for your rotation perfectly. You don't even complete a full flip since you start at an angle, and end on an angle.
Either way, go for it!
