-you've made 3 points none of which contain any actual advice. i'm not sure how i feel about dispensing any advice about avvy safety over the internets in any case...
whatever, do what you want but i think in some cases a little knowledge is more dangerous than none, and no matter how legit your advice might be, i really think the only the only avvy advice that should be given over the internet is:
"do an avvy course, get out into the backcountry with people that are qualified to pass on their experience to you"...
