Making your own skis?

would this be possible?  Also what wood and what plasic is on the bottom of them?  What metal is on the edges?  +k

Seriously. It takes a lot of work, a lot of money and a lot of planning and a TON of learning. I know of no better place to go on the web for this stuff, and I build skis for a living.

But please do the car thing.

i checked ski builders and grafsnowboards was also very helpful  but i find it slightly hard to understand seeing as the amount of ski terminoligy i understand is minute

They revamped pretty much everything and have some interns and what not spending more time on crafting everything. They seem to be doing significantly better than before.

They changed a ton of their policies and so forth to protect them a bit more from such a bad rep and I don't think that Lish is handling the business side of things anymore.

Haha, just take you're time with it and learn everything you can. I legitimately spent months researching and understanding the process before buying a single piece of equipment (and I guarantee there's still ton's I don't know), it's definitely doable, but you need to be prepared for the amount of time, money, and energy that it's gonna take if you want to do this right. And I agree with Rowen... I really want to see you press them with a car!

That's great! I was originally really stoked on the company until all the bad feedback started circulating. I'm pretty sure they are the only people who make full on custom skis for less than a grand. That said though, I think I'd wait for them to get put to the test by other people before I seriously considered them for myself.

Don't laminate the ski if your using the skate deck construction. Line doesn't laminate the step-up or afterbang. its a veneer topsheet.

Because wood is flexible.  Honestly read a little bit, if you have this little understanding of simple craftsmanship then building skis isn't going to work out.  Don't waste your money, learn and practice with something cheap first.  Then try skis.

And make sure you glue your skis to the driveway when you go over them with the car, other wise the layers will move around and you won't get the full width of the ski pressed with all the layers.

333 skis is the biggest joke of a company I've ever seen.  Walmart wouldn't carry those.

for the ski press thing i am talking about making a mold putting a top on that matches the contour of the bottom and the parking the front two wheels on top
