Transformers? (The electical kind)

Hello,

I am heading to Breck in a few days for the season, but coming from England I know the power from the mains is different in America. Here, the mains voltage is 240volts, but in America I have read that the mains volatage is only 110. Does anyone have any experience of this change? And are my electical appliences going to charge ok with the lower amount of power?

I was looking into getting a step-down transformer for the mains to change the voltage before it runs through my stuff, will this make any difference?


Sorry for the long and slightly stupid post, but any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

no you'll be fine. just make sure you have a converter for you plugs so you can plug shit in to our walls.

and don't think like, "oh 110 isn't shit for volts, i could take a shock from that and be fine." don't stick a fork in the socket, it will still hurt a lot.

most things that charge will be fine. Things that work on AC current like hair dryers and other shit will not work.

Any DC converter will have what ranges are acceptable, most should be fine going to 110.

Just curious, what is the current in European circuits and also I think it is 120 V here.

that voltage, hence the V. household current is 240 V but there is a step down to 110 for most outlets at 50 or 60 hz AC. In europe the voltage is 240 V is all outlets and I think a 120 hz, could be wrong on that one. Not sure on the amperage probably between 15-20 for us, no idea for europe but probably the same.

That's about right.... 

Just buy a plug adaptor, that's all you need, and it's all i ever used for my uk shit when i moved to the USA.... it's fine....

By the way, are you headed out with Muzza and Josh birch etc? If so - i'll see you guys in Breck around Dec 9th /10th....
