The Orange County Register's Pat Brennan has the scoop today on new research from Chapman University scientist Keun-Hang Susan Yang aimed at developing a prescription form of the devil's weed that would keep the nausea-reducing chemical cannabidiol (CBD) and exclude the euphoria-producing chemical tetraydrocannabinol (THC)."

Wouldn't it be cool if they did kind of the opposite, and extracted the THC so that you could take a THC pill or something and get high without having to smoke. Weird idea, I know.

It's actually meant to be medicine. Cannabidiol has so many medicinal uses. They aren't doing this for the average kid who goes to a "doctor" and says "I can't sleep" so they can smoke weed. They're doing this for people with actual medical problems.

I love weed as much as the next guy, and I love my med card, but you have to realize that it's not to get high.

What's the point of medical marijuana if it doesn't contain THC? ...There would be no point to  smoking marijuana if it didn't contain THC. Would it even still have medical benefits?

THC is extracted into pill form and used as a pain killer for cancer patients who qualify for it, it does have medical benefits but this is refering to making cannabis purely for the cannabidol, to reduce nausia

I think this is awesome, I mean alot of older people dont medically use MMJ to get high, and kinda view it as a side effect. I know my mom uses Cannabis Tincture for her severe back pain, and pain from cancer and it makes her life livable. She used to smoke weeb back in the 70's but after trying the medicine from today she says its way to strong and not enjoyable what soever so she stick to tincture.

They will still have normal bud, bud this will open the doors for so many people who dont want to catch a buzz off of weed, and show them that their is real medical value, and all the propaganda is fake.

So imo this is a Hugh step forward in allowing people who were against "grass reefer etc" due to growing up before us and knowing it with a hugh stigma, to actually trying it since it wont get them high. Also the ability to have controlled doses in pills would allow doctors prescribe an actual amount

some people who take medicinal have a lower threshold to thc than others. it means to get the nausea reducing effects desired, which may be considerable due to other medication and chemo, that they would have to get really high at the same time, which may not be enjoyable to some. i think what the scientists are doing is a good alternative to the low threshold people, so that they can smoke till they don't feel nauseated, but not get the perhaps uncomfortable mind high of thc that they have to endure with normal medicinal.

i don't think this is an attack on weed to take the fun out of it. you guys have to see it from a different perspective.

I'm not sure this is entirely correct, but I heard they have pills called Cannabol that are just THC and you get stoned as hell. If the problem with it being unhealthy is the smoking part, then start mass producing prescription Cannabol. it exists already, why does it not make the mainstream? Feel free to correct if this is wrong, but don't bash, I'm just throwin what I heard out there.
