Skiing stoned

who's done it? any thoughts? is it worth it? can you still ski fine? i know people who really want to.. seems like they'd end up injuring themselves.

I used to ski stoned quite often.  My first year living in Tahoe after college I would ski stoned more often than not.  It never bothered me.  Sometime during my second year that changed.  I could not ski my gnarliest lines high, it scared me a bit.  I could still cruise groomers on a mellow or icy day, and I could hit little park jumps and ski the pipe, but when I was up on top of something scary I stopped liking the feeling.

I pretty much stopped smoking weed when I left Tahoe.  I just got bored of it.  Skiing is something you really should not need weed for, it is enough fun itself.  If you like it go for it, if not who cares.  I will say this, if you don't smoke a lot, I would not ski high.  You need to be used to being stoned before you ski stoned.

Yeah im a bit slowed and my air sense isnt as good so i take it mellow and just ski pow and just shred groomer side jumps and creative stuff

i love it. it gets that little second thought out of my head that always fucks me up. the thought that makes you only commit like 95% of the time. but when im high, i say fuck it and always commit and land things smoother or learn things quicker. usually have a blunt in my jacket in a tube and just smoke every couple lift rids. and a pack of boogies.

It really just depends if ur in the throwing down hard stage in skiing, which requires a lot more focus. Ive noticed the harder the tricks im trying has made me want to only smoke skiing pow now. Is to easy to loose my focus on every little detail of a techy move. But ive been skiing stoned for 8 years now because it helps my flow but not my focus. Word

Once I got baked with fellow snowboarder before competing in a giant slalom and it wasn't the greatest idea ;) Needless to say I did below my average.

Generally in freestyle sports it works for some, for others it doesn't.

That is my issue with it. It's sweet for a few runs but then I get kind of tired. I used to smoke so much on the way up to the mountains and be ready for a nap by the time I got up there. Then have to smoke again for that extra energy boost, and again, and again... Now I usually don't smoke until sometime in the afternoon. Ski hard in the morning and keep it relaxed in the later part of the day.

Not only is skiing high illegal, but it endangers the lives of you and everyone around you. It is both reckless and stupid. Who's to say your slowed reaction won't lead you to running into in innocent little kid or a tree and killing somebody. Bad idea.

Tried it...And went for a front flip first run, didn't start the flip until i was way off the jump and then I just landed on my back right on the edge of the jump. neverrrr again.

I really hope my sarcasm radar is broken because that is one of the most retarded things I've read on this thread. Skiing stoned is great, if you are a good enough skier and a big enough stoner, you know how to handle your shit. Just don't be a dumbass. He does have a point though. I don't know if it's the same with weed but if you hurt yourself and have any alcohol in your system the hospital will not give you any pain meds.

Imagine how much that's going to fucking hurt with a broken leg.

Weed and alcohol make you sleepy, pain pills and booze can kill you if mixed improperly. That is probably why they don't give you pain pills if you have booze in your system. That being said, I really have no problem with people being on substances and riding as long as they are experienced in what they are doing. And I definately would feel way safer skiing with a bunch of stoned people over skiing with a bunch of drunk people. Its just the nature of the substances.

yeah if you get high on the mountain, you get higher from less weed because your blood is thinner, or atleast thats what i think. but either way skiing pow high is soo fun. it almost feels like a dream
