i know theres probably a lot of threads about this type of stuff. i would like to share one of my recent experiences.
On sunday sept 12 2010 one of my good friends Becca Tenney unexpectedly passed away from viral meningitis. she was only 16. two days earlier i was texting her because she was sick for about a week and was making a great recovery. so she was at home and i hadn't seen her. We talked for HOURS about how she just wanted to go back to school, about how she couldn't wait for our schools ski club. And even about how she really didn't want to do her make up work. The next morning she went into the near by hospital (its now a saturday). she had a bit of chest pains so they took no precautions. within 2 hours of being in the hospital. her bf of almost 2 and 1/2 years went to visit her. right before he was going to leave he held her hand and she slowly started to breath slow. he didn't know what was wrong. 2 minutes later. her heart stopped. immediately following this they were able to revive her. and put her on life support.
After a short flight to mass general. and then to boston children's hospital. she was stabilized. after a short assessment from the doctors. they said that there was little hope. Everyone was holding on to that hope. On sunday morning the parents decided to pull the plug later on that day. so her family and her closest friends were at the hospital. they all got to say there good byes. She died at 4:22:13 PM at the hospital. surrounded by her family her BF and her friends.
Becca was in the band on the ski team. donated her hair to cancer patients. she was an amazing person. never mean always smiled. good student.
I wanted to tell everyone that they should live every day like its there last. keep the ones close to you close. love the ones you love. life is to short for hate.
always know that anything can happen at any time. life can unexpectedly end.
life goes on but its hard not to think about her everyday. its the first and the last thing i think about before i go to bed. i wear a remembrance bracelet around my wrist at all times.
Becca you will always be in my heart. R.I.P
