PVC planks

do any of you have any idea if those thick pvc planks (grey) that they use on decks are any good for boxes, do they slide at all ? and do you have to buff'em or spomething ?

my thick pvc pipe that i use for a rail catches my edge all the time.

never heard of pvc planks but pvc pipes slide fine. i have only caught my edge 2 or 3 times its not that bad

give the planks a go! i know they work sweet for wakeboarding but no idea for skiing

well most of the new picnic tables are made of pvc planks, but I'm just wondering if it takes alot more speed to get to slide on them. is your kink box finished ?

I hear that the best stuff to put on a box is called Puck Board (it's the plastic sheeting along the bottom of the boards in a hockey rink that makes the puck bounce off it), where can you buy sheets of it?

the best one for boxes is neon light backing. And i have a pvc shotgun rail that i have done like 200 times and caught my edge twice. Neither time dented it.

ok so yeah, nevermind my last post, I found some at my hardware store, but answer me this. My box is gonna be 20-24 feet long, but those planks only come in around 3 feet lenght. is it worth it to have plenty one to eachother or is it gonna shake from plank to plank, and also, I wanna know how to drill them, cauz it's too thin to drill from underneath (it's about 1/2cm), and so my edges don't catch over the drill holes. I know I'm being a bitch about this, but I don't wanna spend 120$ and regret it. thanks

When you're attaching the puck-board the holes must be countersunk which leaves the heads of the screws 'countersunk' or cleanly below the surface.
You can get a countersink at the hardware store where they have the drill bits,...it's just a short fat pointed bit that will leave a V shaped recess that allows the head of the screw to sink below the surface...
So you drill a pilot hole through the puckboard then use countersink bit on the hole ,then screw the screw in . If your're carefull,screw in your screws in straight , and don't rush , the results should be a smooth surface with no problems from screw heads
