Can I get an invite?
yea
rockclimbing.com
does have a lot of routes and problems, and they
do have an option to add gps locations.... however from what I've seen
no one has added it. My site would require all climbs to be
added through the Droid/iphone add by taking a picture of it(this will
ensure data integrity). The app automatically generates gps coordinates
and give you the option to upload
it to the site or keep it private on your phone. If uploaded, it adds
it to a Google map display and posts it in the selected climbing area.
So you can choose just to add the boulder without any meta information
you can log on to the website later and update, or just let other people
fill it in for you. Heres a couple ways I envision climbers using it.
Scenario 1.
So lets say your climbing in a new area and you want to know the name
and rating of the problem your working on... Turn your GPS on, open up
the app and if the problem exists it will automatically detect that your
near it, and offer to display information.
Or if the boulder does not exist in the database, you upload it to the
site where someone will most likely recognize it and fill in the
information.
Scenario 2:
You develop a new bouldering problem. You name it, rate it and post it.
Now other climbers in your community will know about the problem and
they can go attempt it and confirm or re-rate your problem.
