good luck is all i can say..ive still got a couple friends that graduated in 2009 and are still lookin for jobs..what did you graduate with?

The city is awesome, people are very proud to be from here are you looking to live in the south end or southie? two very different places..I would stay away from anywhere near southern boston ( ie hyde park, roxbury, dorchester, jamaica plain) very tough areas with high crime rates and there have been a very high number of shootings this past summer

Allston/brighton neighboorhood is the best place to live (for a recent college grad) its the epitomy of a college town with BU, BC, northeastern and harvard/MIT right across the river..its reasonably priced I live in a 3 bedroom and we pay a total of $2,200 a month..but the best part are all the great bars in the area, you'll feel like you never left college

the green lines sucks, especially when the college kids come back in the fall, but the red line is pretty decent and very efficient and there are plenty of bus routes so get familiar with them..don't live anywhere where you need to drive on 93 or 90 because every single morning and afternoon the roads are clogged like you wouldnt believe

public trans in Boston is decent, but driving yourself is incredibly shitty. Getting to the city during rush hour is a nightmare in itself, but once you get in there, it is 1000000 times worse. My girl friend's dad works at State Street Global Advisors and he makes the drive from 40 minutes north every day, I don't know how he does it.

i'll be finishing my doctorate in optometry in May and I'm looking at some residencies which appear to be downtown near the hospital. Might be hard to find a good job right away but I think it is not hard to find something, even if I have to work at a walmart vision center i could make 100k+ lol.

don't live on the non-northeastern side of ruggles st, or anywhere along melnea cass blvd. And for that matter, I wouldn't even recommend going into that area. Roxbury is a place to avoid. Some parts are nice, but they would most likely be out of your price ranger. Dorchester is similar, though dorchester, the further south/away from the city you go, the better it gets. Down by quincy/milton area it isn't bad, but you're no longer right in the city.

Southie isn't bad. Might as well be called the irish district. North end isn't bad either. (italian)

The hospitals are all along mission hill area, which isnt bad, though it becomes inundated with college kids in the winter, and depending on how close you are, sox fans/traffic every game day.

The T is....decent. Compare it with any other major cities mass transit, and it somewhat sucks, but it gets the job done.

red line can be inconsistent as hell. (2 trains in 45 seconds, then none for 25 minutes)
green line is just driven by assholes who dont know how to brake gradually. Always packed too.
orange line generally leads to nowhere good. (unless you want to go hang out at dwight's hood celebrity-haircuts and rims in 1 place)

hahaha some serious hate on the mbta. I havent had that many bad experiences with it but also i dont use it everyday...

I rode it every day from may to sept, and will resume doing so in may...I actually didn't mind it too much


but at the moment, I'm in london, and I find riding the tube here to be absolutely mind blowing compared to the T. Fast, on time, comfortable, its basically everything the T isn't. Its also ridiculously easy to use. Ha the first few times, I actually had a post it with T directions on it in case i got lost or forgot. London underground though I didn't even have to stop and look at a map for directions.

boston is a great city, you'll love it there

boston is dope. make sure you own a bike and not a car. traffic is horrendous most of the time, especially on the highways/tunnels and bridges. the setup is crazy whacky nou nou as well. the T works, its not great though. and it doesnt run 24 hours so make sure you don't get trapped far from home expecting to catch the T at 3 in the morning cuz it aint gonna come.

Try having to take the green B line everyday..you'll want to fucking kill someone its so incredibly inefficient

also last train at 12:45? you shittin me? Boston has the second earliest closing public transportation system in the country for a major city (second only to el paso, tx) but its also very cheap to commute daily..guess thats the tradeoff
