i was gonna wait to weeks so it would be an every other month type thing...but im gonna be pretty busy the next few days so this will be early
where did we leave off... talking about mortars sucking right. then the question if i feel like there has been a change here. now ... i can say sure. president karzai was able to come to the valley for the first time in quite some time (good idea on time i know). General Patreaus was here also. and the fact that they could come here and get together on my fob is saying something in my opinion.
so basically i still live up on a mountain for a week at a time. just scanning my lane doing my thang. we have caught some guys digging and planting stuff in abandoned villages and rightfully engaged them with the 240 bravo.
oh the mortars and rockets have stopped for now. guess its a little to cold for dem talibanny to be fighting. they still go out and plant ied's but the fightin is dying down.(pun intended)
we have been out the last week doing 30 hr skar(small kill and recon) missions. looking for bad guys... its my job, we like to do bad things to bad people.
mission recap
so there i am, in the middle of a freshly plowed field. Its probably like 38 degrees. The stars are shinning bright. The silence is unnerving, but we continue our mission despite the unsettling feeling of being watched. The field we are in is full of land mines and our night optics dont seem to help much. Even though we have a metal detector leading the patrol, every step ...i take is terriffying. With the start of each step, before i let my foot touch the ground i whisper, "dear god, i promise i will never curse again...next step....dear god i swear i will never laugh at a retard again...next step ....dear god, i promise i will not masturbate again...etc etc...dear god i promise i will not drink agai...."psssssssssst, hey doc, you already said that one" i lose concentration and step off the path. nothing happens. phhhhhhew. we all laugh...
thats the jist of moving at night.
i go on leave in feb. to South Korea to propose to my girlf. im pretty excited. wish time would go by faster. ive gotten a package from on3p. i was stoked.
