A while ago I went to the vimeo page of an NSer whose edits I really liked and watched a video about how they asked their girl to prom by planting flowers that spelled out PROM?. Can anyone help with finding this? If it is your video, I want to say I won't copy it, but I will (just not shot for shot).
well you made it so i was assuming that you were the guy in the video. how did you ask fran out? did you take her to the flowers? just wondering how things happened
oh word, yea i just wasn't sure what exactly you were looking for. i wanted to make a video for her since filmmaking is my thing and i thought it would be cool to make use of that. i had had the idea of spelling out prom with bright flowers in a darkly colored place for a while, and as prom was coming up, my mom happened to have a dinner party for which she ordered a ton of flowers to decorate the house. after that was over, i cut a bunch of the flowers and shot the video. to show her, i burned the film to a dvd and had her watch it
to the movie creator - what did you film with and what lens is that in the intro with the flowers that has a small vignette/blur around the edges, im dying to get something similar for my 7D!!!
I just shot this with my Canon Rebel T2i with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens (it was shortly after I bought the camera, I have since replaced that lens).
Any vignette/color effects were all done in post. I used Magic Bullet Looks 1.2 to color grade it.
Thanks for the compliments guys! I appreciate it. Nice to see this thread get bumped.
yea, VERY loosely though. i just kinda sketched it out when i was bored in class in the weeks leading up to actually shooting it.
i changed a lot of angles, made up a lot of angles as i went, and added/removed things from the story. it was really just to get the general flow going so i would have at least an idea of what i wanted to do.
to use a film burn you actually just have a .mov clip of the burn. you then apply it on the video track above your clip, make sure the scale/aspect ratio match, then apply a Luma Key filter. Once you've applied that, select 'key out darker.' and then you have film burn.
i used to have all of my film burn clips in a folder on mega upload and i was going to send that to you but it looks like it got taken down, sorry man
