All this talk of America, the big occupier of Iraq, is getting me down. We don't occupy, USURP yes, but we're not occupying. In fact, we're the dictionary definition of usurp.

Armed with nothing more than semi-auto 22\'s and flaming Alberta whiskey, this rag-tag group could fight a successful guerilla campaign against 150 000 US troops plus tens of thousands of coalition troops, costing $5 bil a MONTH and lasting at least 2 years. I love this, I find it halarious. Lets look at no child left behind. Test kids a lot more, if schools do bad test score wise, punish them. how is that even a remotly good idea? sure, incentive wise it's ok, but do you know what test scores show us? JACK SHIT. they mean nothing. A school can teach to the test and do well, while another school can teach everything, and do bad on the test. It's utterly stupid.

as for beingcalled a flaming liberal, I am liberal, but I would not for a second consider myself an extreme one. I guess everyone in the country who thinks bush is bad and his ideas suck is a flaming liberal huh? all.... 49% of us?

MY question to you then is what good things has Kerry offered to do...becuase what you don't realize is there is serious potential to fuck things up even worse! Sure other countries dont hate Kerry yet but what if he just walks and yanks our troops lets Iraq fall apart and being a liberal he sure as hell is goin to cut back on defense and military which could leave us even more suceptibal to terror attacks which are already set to occur! Im not defending Bush by any means but i really really really dont want Kerry to be President. Why cant Democrats come up with a decent candidate becuase if they did this election would already be over! KErry was born politically retarded!

-Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense, during the first 6 months of the war. The 'good of the iraqi people' reason is a nice political shroud to cover up the truth... otherwise, they'd have to say, 'Whoops, we fucked up; no WMDs, and Saddam had no links to Alqaeda. Damn.' Saying it was a good enough reason is to contradict the Bush administration (and lord knows you 'flaming' conservatives won't admit they made a mistake), as is to say it was the reason they went to Iraq in the first place.

J.D i agree that the lack of wmd's and al qaeda alliances were a bad misjudgement. and it is easy for me to sit here and say it is ok since im not over there getting shot at. however, i also feel if i were living under those type of conditions i would watn a helping hand also. im not goign against your views, just expandingon them

There were No Iraqis on the planes on sept 11. The attackers were almost all Saudis. Why was it 'Terrorists attack america' and not 'Saudi Arabia attacks America'? Why do we have an opportunistic Donald Rumsfeld immediately devoting government resources to finding links between Saddam and terrorism, when Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, nor with Alqaeda? Why were several members of the Bin Laden family allowed to leave the country during the period in which NO OTHER PLANES were allowed to fly, despite protests from the FBI, who wanted to question them? What has this administration really been after? Make no mistake, their agenda is not as straightforward as 'help those in need'.

^That, I suppose, is yet to be seen. In the long run, this may indeed be good for the Iraqi people. Or maybe they'll end up with a clone of Ayatolla Khomeini running their country. Only time will tell.

I am so sick of people brining terrorist intot eh equation. so 5000 people have died in america in the past 5+ years from attacks. compared to many other things, that is incredibly low. Hell, I'd love to have cancer, aids, and many other dissease, not to mention car crahses, polution, and other things. You buy into fear WAY to much, you know that right? anyone who thinks terrorism is the biggest problem in the US, or even ONE of the biggest needs a reality check. bush is doing all he can to make it an issue, because it's teh ONLY thing he's got going for him.

as for cutting back on defense spending, why did bush cut back? hmmm? he's a republican running a war, and he cuts back on defense spending.

i think someones just angry that they did bad on their SATs or some other test, so they are saying test results dont mean shit, and if they really mean nothing then why is around 75% of all grades you recieve in high school based on testing

I actualy score fairly well on my SATS, and was one of the top scorers in the nation for a SSAT (equilivency) test I took back in 5th grade. Test scores don't tell you shit. I know plenty of smart people, who are bad test takers. Test as a whole aren't bad, but standardizerd tests are. YOu can beat them just by using some basic stratagies, and they don't tell you shit.

He's right lineskier, 2 of the smartest people I know did worse than me on the AP tests. Tests do not necessarily indicate intelligence. On the other hand, they are SOME indication.

I was never for the war to begin with, but now that no wmd were found, it seems that the idea of 'liberating the iraqis' and installing a democracy seems to be more of a shroud for some other hidden agenda, Also in case people havent noticed, they dont want us or our democracy, the whole concept of equal rights and a non religious oriented government is completly foreign to them, i mean we are trying to implement a government system that took hundreds of years to evolve (look how long it the US to grant somewhat equal rights to all people). You can't force a whole country to change its way of thinking in the matter of 1 year, in the end if we leave iraq without a working organized government we'll be left with a power vaccum and the country will either be another somalia or somebody powerful enough will take control and it will be the same as when saddam was there

^A non-religious government is starting to look like a foreign concept even in the U.S.... conservative pundits are using the phrase 'Secular politics' like they're a plague to be avoided. Bush himself mentioned something about the U.S. being a theocracy.

ap tests dont have nearly as much to do with intellegence as the SATs do, so your right there, but tests are a pretty good at representing someones intellegence, like IQ tests

how many schools or institutions give IQ tests? I know for a fact IQ tests were NOT what the bush administration was going to use to test us. It was worthless ap/sat type.

yeah theres a pretty big difference between AP and SAT tests, SAT is pretty much directly related to your IQ, because the SAt doesnt use advanced math, and a lot of the verbal is reasoning, you just have to know a decent amount of words, and read a decent amount, but the AP is all advanced shit that you have to learn to do well on, so a person that doesnt do jack shit work could get a good score on the SATs as long as they know their basic shit and are smart, but someone who doesnt do shit and is smart would have a lower chance of doing well on the AP tests, because the AP tests are all about what you have learned, and 50% of the AP test is an essay, i know the new SAT is going to have an essay, but that is stupid shit so im not talking about the new SAT, only the old one

I havent been around for that long, and all this political debate is good stuff, but melvs, you made about the worst post I have ever seen up there. (just one, most of yours are good and fact based). are you trying to say that because more people have died in car crashes than in terrorist bombings we shouldnt be at war with iraw? Should we be at war with car manufacturers? The fact is terrorist attacks can be acted on and against. You can debate the progress were actually making in Iraq, but dont try to tell me we have other, more pressing issues, like car accidents.

^He has a point though; if someone tells you, 10000 people will die from cancer this year (or whatever the stat is), or 9000 will die from car accidents, do you care that much? Not really. Just because it's over a longer period of time? This type of thing can be fought, too, in totally different ways. You can't send the Marines, but you can fund cancer research and education, set better and stricter corporate regulations, etc. and improve the quality and length of people's lives, and save a few thousand, too. Sure, it costs money, but so does that whopper of a defense budget Rummy seems to think is so important... it isn't unless you make it important.

Im not saying fighting cancer is unimportant or that we shouldnt care, but implying that we shouldnt worry about terrorists because cancer is still around is absurd. We have been researching cancer (and the other things Melvs listed) for years, and slow progress is being made. Terrorism presents another situation in which people are dying, and a different type of effort is necessary.

Did iraq serve as a threat? obviously they did but what kinda threat was it. SOmething far more complex then just attacking us. After all it wasnt iraq that attacked us.

I was commenting on the fact that melvs was implying that we shouldnt worry about terrorist attacks because there are other things killing people in America.

alright, just for you uninformed.. Iraq and the war on terror are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. We did not to to Iraq to fight terrorists. Ask bush himself, and he will tell you teh same.

as for teh terrorsits vs. other cuaes of deaths thing. Why do terrorists hate us so much? because we treat them like shit. We are always helping them, then, turning our backs on them. We treat them horribly. Now, why is terrorism a worse issue then cancer or aids? because teh media and government make it out to be. There is no other reason. You should be more afraid of contracting aids, or getting cancer then being blown up in a terrost attack. I knwo I for one am not at all afraid of terrorist, cause I have more of a chance (in teh past 3 years living in the us) of dying from... well.. ANYTHING.
