Honestly, the shit was dangerous and it was only a matter of time before it killed someone. I drink and know how to party, but this stuff was just garbage. Why anyone would want to drink that poison is beyond me. If you want an energy booze just rock redbull vodka or something. First good thing NY has done in a while.

some stuff just shouldnt be available. end of question. to me its like guns. over here (austria), weapon laws are fuckin strict, and even if i wanted to start a college shooting or whatever, i couldnt do it because there is no way i could get automatic weapons.

and guess what? little to no gun crimes. kinda surprising. but yeah, all you "free" americans, lets go get some guns, drop some meth or whatever, youre free at last.

while i wouldnt even agree with you 100% when talkin about adults, i see a big problem when talking about underagers.

you know and i know that you can get all that stuff in stores when youre under 16/18/21 or whatever.


so when guns/drugs/whatever harmful things are easily accessible to certain people (normally adults they become easier accessible to ALL people. thats my point. seriously, i have no clue (i am 22, wasnt sitting around at home all my life) how to get hard drugs if you tell me to buy some within the next 2 hours. same with guns, same with chemicals or whatever.

european countries are "socialist" (at least seen from your point of view) when it comes to that stuff, and i like it that they take responsibility for their citizens health and for the health of their citizens sons and daughters.

we will never agree on the role of the government, but i think i made an understandable point.

For everyone saying that you have to be a dumbass to die/get sick/taken to the hospital because of Loko, take a look at a college frat party. They are full of these dumbasses. Every single person in those parties wants to get as fucked up as they can in the shortest amount of time possible, regardless of how bad whatever they are drinking is for them. College kids at parties are in no way responsible enough to be able to drink that shit. I've seen kids funnel Lokos, and play mad drinking games with them. I've also seen these same kids getting taken away in ambulances, one weekend after another (The learning curve for most college kids obviously isn't too high). The way I see it, Loko should be taken off the shelves or at least be regulated more. It is way too inexpensive, and easy for irresponsible kids to get. If hard liquor was put in a big, brightly colored can and sold in a bundle with a a few redbulls for $3.00 at every convenience store and gas station, you've got to be retarded to think that there wouldn't be a push from the government to take it off the shelves. The same thing is happening with Loko. A couple big cans of flamboyantly-flavored poison that are guaranteed to get you fucked is a lot more enticing to college kids than a 30 rack of Keystone.

banning 4Loko is completely wrong. If i want to drink shitty beverages and get fucked, I'm allowed too, this is America and we have the Bill of Rights. As long as I'm not hurting anyone else, I'm allowed the pursuit of happiness. however, now that state legislature is preventing this, they are acting unconstitutionally.

The problem with our gov't is that within the past 50 year, the constitution has been read positively, instead of negatively, as it was designed to be read. what this means is when the constitution is read negatively, the gov't is to only act when needed, and we live our fucking lives with out gov't meddling. but recently it has been read positively and the gov't is hellbent on protecting us from ourselves. and this is wrong.

i don't need MI telling me that i cant smoke in bars or drink 4Lokos. theres too many liberals sticking there noses in other people business, instead of worrying about themselves

I think a lot of people in this thread who don't live in NY are commenting on how the fuck we should do things. The main reason 4loco got banned is because the people of NYC wanted it. Unlike the rest of this country, we live in a city where there are people, and tons of cars. While some 18 year old can get drunk on on 4loco in Bumblefuck northern NY and crash his car into a tree, us down in the city have bigger problems like dodging drunk drivers, and making sure some hood rats don't get too fucked up and randomly decide to stab us.

I've literally seen fights break out over this shit, bunch of shady guys chilling on a corner by a bodega chugging 4locos and fucking with people who are just walking by and harassing girls. If what you consider a good time involves getting so fucked out of your mind that you can't stand and even function, then you seriously have a problem. Don't get me wrong, i like to drink, I run a bar after-all, but I know alcohol is still a controlled substance, and enhancing it with caffeine just to feel more fucked up is just sad and desperate, junkies do the same thing. Thank god they got rid of that shit, alcohol is made to be enjoyed, not to be completely fucked up on for the sake of being fucked up, that's an addiction.

i'm not saying i'm on his side, but that's a bit unfair. there is such a thing as "redeeming qualities".  loko, while tons of fun to drink, it pretty much the definition of a health hazard with little to no RQs.  skiing, on the other hand.....

skiing has redeeming qualities.  it is exercise.  a sport.  and a great source of clean fun for tons of people to enjoy.  4loko is just short of liquid poison.

4loko is getting banned in large part because it is dangerous, awful for you, etc...much like some other illegal drugs.  i'm NOT saying it should be.  just that it IS.  it's sole redeeming quality is that is it fun to drink because it fucks you up.  nothing wrong with that at all, but to compare it to banning skiing (and hiking, and skateboarding, and basketball, and fishing, etc...) is unfair because i think we all would agree these things have more "wholesome", "unharmful" and "socially responsible/acceptable" redeeming qualities, if you will. 

it is just not a congruent argument.  that is my one and ONLY point.

this is very dumb, i'm sorry i even said anything.
