dmb, not dave and tim, have officially gone down the drain since about 2007, acutally they were ok since about 2002. anything before that is sick. it's unfortunate
disagree. I've seen DMB about 20 times total and every year since 2003. I think it's impossible to make that determination. DMB live is better than DMB in the studio any day but even then shows vary. 2009 was the best summer tour I ever saw and 2010 was almost the same as 2009, dave was sick and it messed with our setlist this summer which could have made SPAC this year a pretty sick show. I didn't know shit about this fall tour until a month or so ago but even that wasn't bad, it was half songs off Big Whiskey and the other half or more was all old stuff. Albany was fun, but when I looked at the setlist from the next night in Philly I was kind of blown away because it was so much better. Bands change styles through the years but I think DMB still has a lot of good music left to make. I will agree though that Dave and Tim together make a great duo, the Live at Radio City/Luther College/Las Vegas CD's are a testament to that.
extremely jealous of anyone who gets to go to this fall tour. dave at alpine has been a part of my summer for too many years now, idk what im gonna do next year with no tour.
kinda bummed they havent pulled out more old songs with this tour, but C'ville is gonna go off those last 2 nights. and the tapes have sounded real good, the setlists have just been more standard then i was expecting.
Waste of money. Aslo, where are you all going to drink? Not that dmb ever has a shakedown, but that's usually on the sidewalk or people chillin across the street on the steps.
The average dave fan can't buy beer inside, or at a bar. Seems like a strange situation.
1. they cant jam anymore
2. never really on the same page
3. daves voice is completely shot (dave screaming, to make a song "epic" i cant even take serious any more)
4. their "sound" im talking volume, style, and quality, is so popish these days. you can barely hear stefan and boyd anymore. that raw unique sound they had in the 90s? completely gone. you go to a show now and its like crank up daves voice 50 times too high, and carters drums, then make some horrible mix of everthing else.
6. oh yeah, boyds solos arent even solos anymore.
7. its just horiible leroi passed, itll never sound the same, and yeah you have to look past it, and 2009 they did a pretty good job at that
ive been downloading shows for years, i have shows ranging from 1990 - 2010, anything recently, i don't even listen to anymore.
I'm not a fan, but the music isn't as devastatingly terrible as it's made out to be. The crowd and the scene these days is a fucking joke though.
They have a lot of talent in the band, it just just come together that well. It's not bad but it's nothing amazing. Carter is a phenomenal drummer though, enjoy watching him play.
I can't imagine paying 100 bucks to hang in bro central all day and then get my stomach pumped at 4 pm.
stand up was not a good album, i can definitely concede that, but groo grux king is awesome. their live shows are still insane. i work at the comcast center in hartford over the summer and that was probably my favorite show all summer.
Yeah I hate how it's become a frat boy scene in the parking lot especially at SPAC, for me it's a good concert where I get to get drunk with my friends that I never see. A huge portion of the crowd though is the bro-squads that go just to get obliterated in the parking lot and ruin the experience for a lot of people.
I've been listening to the Live Trax cd's mostly as of late.
you should. its got TONS of tapes up that you can stream, you just have to make an account, but its free. awesome for listening to shows you dont really want to dl and have take up space on your computer, but still want to listen to.
yup you pretty much have to go pavilion if you want to have a decent time. although the warehouse lawn area isnt bad since its roped off till the show starts.
i went to a springsteen show with my dad. didnt know much of his music, but still had a fantastic time. and its sick that a 60 year old dude is still rocking that hard and playing near 3 hour sets.
I saw him at bonnaroo last year. Full 3-4 hour set with the estreet band, next night he played a few songs with phish. Trey/bruce guitar jam, sick shit
Not a bad show, i like hearing #41 later in the show but thats an interesting opener. #41 is one of my favorites. I've never seen the christmas song live though. I was at the albany show and the only real surprise song was the song that jane likes. Tonight's show wasn't bad. Our encore was supposed to be Tripping Billies but the crowd demanded Last Stop so they played that instead. Pig is also near the top of my list and we didn't get that either. I hope with this year hiatus coming up they have some new stuff coming out and plan a great comeback tour. I was at SPAC when he covered the Talking Heads- Burning Down the House...but I'm seriously considering writing letters or something to get them to try covering Talking Heads- This Must Be the Place. If anyone knows the song I think it would be an awesome song for them to cover.
lol I wanted Last Stop too. I'm probably wrong but just a guess that Dave forgot the words again and they just turned it into a solo or something because they ended up playing it fully anyway. The night after the Albany show in Philly, it said Dave forgot some words in like the 2nd verse.
ah. i was just confused when i saw that on the setlist.
this was a great run
