Indoor Jib House

So newschooler's i may have a unique opportunity, i have warehouse that if i fix up i can have for $300 a year. its about 9000 square feet and somewhere between 15 and 20ft tall. so my question to you is what would you do with it... cause im thinking about making an indoor ski slope/in-run so i can jib year round.

Casper, Wyoming. not a big town at all but enough of a snowboard/ski scene to be at least profitable... :)

we just got something like this in my hometown and they have a 30 ft ceiling and with the ram they made(probably 25ft. tall) you cant get very much speed for a jump. but a longer less inclined ramp with rails may work.

2 ways to do this.

Build some nice drop ins out of wood, some jumps, matresses under the carpet material on the landing, maybe one foam pit. Using this for friends.



Or, actually going for a business. In which case you have to build it really fucking legit, built a real foam pit, get real dendex or snoflex. Get insurance. Spausa might be able to do something with that. I like their settup for covering skateparks. It would be really cool to make it legit. But it will probably be a hell of a lot easier to build for yourself and friends.



Unless you have a ton of time and money to invest in something that isn't guaranteed to work out. Either way, go for it and best of luck

A nice mellow jib slope with 2 lines of 2 rails would be sick, then a stall at the bottom or something.

Could totally put a little sprinkler system on the ceiling over the part of the warehouse that has the ramps. Turn it on every once in a while to keep it slick.

It sounds sick. I wish it was on the east coast instead of Wyoming.

The only problem that yo may run into is getting insurance, because skiing has a decent amount of liability that you need to get covered so you don't get your ass sued.

i would do something with just you and you friends... if you tried it as a business it would prob cost a lot of money for insurance for something like that.. you should just get your friends together and build something sick for you guys to use

good luck man for 300 a year you cant go wrong, a 9000 sf wearhouse here outside nyc would cost you minimun 2500-5000 a month

Yo everyone pics on the way, went out there today and relized its pure concrete floors so it would stay cold during the winter. I think we might make it kinda like a skate park with i think 3 run in's and an interchangable floor(made out of plywood/2x4's) so we can change up the different features.

This is really gonna happen!! :D

A skatepark and some jib lines would be good so you are attracting 2 crowds to the place, is there a possibility to keep the place really cold year round and make snow inside everyonce and a while? it would be sick

i wasnt thinking so much along the skate park idea but, but more along the lines of having a raised floor with different piece's. That way you can have different pieces/rails and just change em out. And kinda doubt id be able to keep the place cold, haha to pricey and the place is HUGE!. Good thought though! :D keep the ideas rollin everyone :)

Just say fuck it and make your own Fantasy Factory. Don't try to make a business... anything action sports related is a bitch. Ill trampoline, ill foam pit, mini ramp, bar.... ILLEST parties ever. Charge $5 a head for parties and make your money at the end of each month.

Ha, but if you have a dream of a Jib House, send it! It would at least be fun for you and friends, but definitely do some research. I bet if you hit up Brad Geiger on NS here he would have a wealth of knowledge about it.

Totally an awesome idea. I just hope you don't go bankrupt or something cause it's a good but expensive idea that has a chance of failure.

It gets pretty cold up there so you could make a little home snowmaker. You could build it from anywhere from 100$-1000$+. They work pretty well too! I have one that makes atleast 3 or 4 inches an hour over a pretty big area and i've only spent 200$ on it. But make sure there are drains if you do it because when it melts...yeah

haha yeah theres drains :) one of the coolest things about the warehouse actually, has two big metal drains that run all the way down the inside of the building. Also whered you get plans to make something like that? and where can i get some?! :D

Yea dude, insurance to run a business out of that would be through the roof, I don't think it's worth it. Just rent it for 300 a month, get some buddy's to chip in a little bit every month and in return they get to use the place as well, design stuff, build stuff. It would just be like the ultimate playground for you and friends! Plus the party Idea is really good, have friends over and charge a small cover fee. You could also host small competitions, and charge a small entrance fee. Of course you''ll need to have prizes. But all that would probably cover your rent each month.
