Bern Macon vs. Smith Maze

I'm looking to get a really low profile helmet this year, but i really don't want to sacrifice protection. I'm looking into the Macon EPS because i can get a 35% off discount, but i have my doubts about Bern. can anyone tell me about these helmets? how do they compare protection wise?

If you are gonna compete in anything...dont get a bern...they are considered hard hats and not real helmets...i learned this the hard way and just bought a K2 indy pro for comps this winter

Smith Maze is the absolute lightest fully certified helmet on the market. It is complient with both ASTM F2040 North America standards and EN 1077:2007 European helmet requirements.

Don't skimp on protection. You might just use it.

yeah i'm looking to compete in pipe this year. it just sucks cause the maze is so expensive

Again...expense isn't relevant when it comes to safety. $65 bucks on Sierra Trading Post.
