2010/11 Spirit Natural Bamboo Ski Poles

Hello everyone,
This is my first thread representing Spirit Creations in newschoolers my name is Adam a co-starter of Spirit and we have a bamboo ski pole we would love for everyone to see.  After a few design and production changes I am  proud to announce the availability of our first Spirit project "SP1" Bamboo Ski poles and the launch of our website. www.spiritcreationsusa.com

As for the 2010/11 thread, ill be here to answer questions or concerns anyone may have, take suggestions, post updates and all. Also a reoccurring subject form previous threads of mine was the comparison to the Komperdell and Liberty ski poles, although these are great ski poles they are not natural bamboo poles used to make a ski pole.

the bamboo is very light and the larger powder baskets a long with a solid handle give the poles a nice swing weight. We are working on getting video together of the powder baskets and how they spin on the snow.

there are no alternative baskets available right now, we are working on a smaller basket tho, just wanted to get the deep snow ones out first. They have been tons of fun to have in all conditions.

I like the idea of bamboo, I can remember my parents having bamboo poles from way back in the day. The use of a renewable resource and ability to replace parts is very forward thinking. How do you maintain weight ratios between poles so a skier can have a matched pair?

the bamboo will hold up great, the flex allows for more give before the break. There is a manufactures warranty, if we did anything wrong. If something does happen to your pole, we have replacement shafts so you don't need to get a new set.

When choosing the bamboo pole to make into a ski pole, we need to match the bamboo to the size of pole we want because of the spaced nodes. Once we have them grouped into sizes we do our best to match like weight and color poles. The weight difference between poles at the same length is really noticeable. Then once you add the inserts and parts it really makes up a small percent of the weight.

its very interesting if you look into the history behind the aluminum ski pole, Bamboo was never not strong enough, the switch to aluminum was simply because it was the "new" in thing, and could be mass produced.

those look awesome! i usually dont use poles, but i need to pick up a pair for backcountry use. ill have to look into these, i just wish the baskets were smaller... but definitely the coolest poles ive seen.

thats a great looking pair of poles, i have a pair where the basket rotates and its sweet. another plus of the bamboo is that it wont get as cold outside as metal. and when you are holding onto frozen metal for a piece of the day either bootpacking or just skiing your hands get much colder.

on that note i have to wait for the price to come down a little. i havent spent over 5 dollars on poles in the last 6 years.

lol we will work real hard to get these bad boys into your price range. You also made a great point about how these poles don't get nearly as cold as aluminum. The natural bamboo does great out in the snow and you can carry them around all you want without your hands getting cold.

The baskets on these poles do spin. Like the rims on my Cadillac.

The leather is thick, finer than your mothers couch. Hand stitched, by an American.

I had the opportunity to ski with a prototype model of these poles last year, In a word, quality.

If you ever find yourself having to push with your poles though deep snow, you'll love the bigger basket. 

These new models, are way more bad ass, than the pair i have. I'll be order a few new sets.

these poles are definitively for you, the bamboo pole can take the same beating as aluminum without getting bent and dinged up. Buy replaceable shafts as low as $19.99 is much less then needing to go out and buy new sets of handles and baskets.

Also it is not possible for the bamboo to soak up water and become heavy, it is very difficult to do even by submerging the bamboo even without inserts to allow water in because the sugars in the pole block the water.. So concerning the pole being in snow, it is definitely not a issue

those are hella sick and i completely like the idea of using a more renewable substance for gear, but i cant justify spending 150 on a pair of ski poles, as they rarely last me a whole season

$20 is still more than I would pay for poles.

I dont have a problem with you starting this thread, but the constant bumping is verging on advertising. If you want to advertise, talk to the site admins and get cleared for an Orange name, but any more bumps by you and I'm going to have to pull it.

pretty cool imo. i would love to use a pair, renewable and made pretty close to home. but trying to advertise on NS wont get you any business with that price.  hell, i bet a lot of the people on this site use skis that cost that much.

price drops to 70 and i would probably bite, but only if the warranty was crazy good
