I got a Nikon D5000 a while back, and just started screwing around with the settings and taking pictures around San Franciscor. Here they are...what do you think?

I live on a huge hill in San Francisco, so I can see out over all the fog. This is what I got..

First is nice but just kinda your typical night time out of focus bokeh shot, not that interesting.

Looking through all of the football ones they all seemed fairly well exposed and composed, nice work on those. They definitely have a feel for the action.

Fog one is nice, I would have maybe put less negative space on the sky and more on the city or whatever is below the fog, but that may not have been possible depending on where you shot from.

Maybe showing a little more of the buildings and stuff with the fog would make it a little more interesting, also it would give a neat perspective to your shot, instead of just the fog and having a piece of a building showing. Little tips that may be helpful for next time you shoot!

Which lens(es) are you currently using?

relates exactly to my comment. Also shooting vertically might help as well! Next time there's fog go shoot with these tips in mind and post them up!

From where I am, my house looks out over the ocean and the basin below where all the fog is are all houses. So theres not really any tall buildings to speak of. It just looks out on the empty sky where the peninsula and the ocean are.

For the football shots I used a Nikkor 55-200 mm 1:4-5.6G lens.

For the fog and bokeh shots I used a the 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6g lens that came with the camera.

pretty sweet. I understand what you mean with your position. Maybe try with your 18-55 lens at 18mm to shoot? It will be wider and will allow you to get more fill to the photo if you know what I mean.
