BRING THE OLD SEARCHBAR BACK!!!!!!!

i can never find the shit i want with the new searchbar. i gave it a chance, and a second chance, but the truth is that it sucks. everytime i try to find a thread i have to scan through pages and pages. so please ns gods...please...bring the old searchbar back!@!!!!!!

I don't know what to say.

When we had just the old searchbar that only searched thread titles, people complained that the searchbar was not effective. Now that we have a search that searchs content as well, people complain that you want the title only search back.

Would making both search options easily available be a good response?

i can't really put my finger on what's wrong with it, but it happens more than half of the time that i'm looking for a specific thread that i know is on there somewhere, and i just cannot find it ...

i can't give any examples right now, but if it happens again i'll let it know in here ....

I was just going to make a thread about this. I can never find a thread I am looking for, even if I type in the exact name of the thread. For example, I just searched "Bangin Rollin edits" and the first page of results didn't have the thread I wanted. I then search "Rollin"and it was the 4th result. The thread is named "Cool bangin rollin edits. Watch them." So my question is why does one keyword in the title find it when 3 keywords didn't? That is just fucked.

i never complained about the old searchbar but i can't deal with this one

it's few flaws are nothing compared to the utter failure of the new one. it is IMPOSSIBLE to find any thread that is older than a month old. that really doesn't bode well with the constant encouragement for noobs to search. i always see threads start like "i searched but couldn't find anything in the first 70 pages of results" when the answer is in there somewhere.

This, the new one is absolutely terrible. I find myself posting "threads" in every thread worthwhile because I know that if I don't I'll never be able to find it again.

If you want to find a certain thread a bunch of the time it works just to google search the name of the thread with newschoolers next to it.

Yet when we had the google search everyone hated it? We know there have been flaws in every search bar, but every time we've changed it to what the members request and you hate it more.

Being able to search content as well as titles is a good thing. The problem is that if you search more than one word, or treats them with an "or" rather than and "and." Meaning if you type in "FKS" you will get say 100 results. But if you type in "FKS brakes" you will get 200 results, because it shows threads that contain "FKS" or "brakes." This is what makes it very difficult to find things. If I search for "FKS brakes" I want it to show threads that contain both those words only.

The only problem I have with the new searchbar, is that when i try and find information on something (product wise) it just comes up with pages of buy/sell/trade and that's what starts all these "what skis" threads. I think if you added a advanced search (searching, buy/sell/trade, NSG, ski gabber and such seperatly) so I can find what I need or if there is a need to make a thread on such topic. THAT would really fix all the problems in my opinion.

holy cow the search bar is pissing me off today, im trying to look for a thread about good ski songs but its impossible. when i actually do find one it is just full of *searchbar noob!!* but how the fuck am i supposed to find a thread about it in this searchbar ahhhh i thought the old one was fine

Some forums have an option where you can search the exact phrase or to search key words. If it wouldn't be too much hassle I think this would definitely be the best option.

i don't know man, but i can't find fuck all when i search shit. i just looked up solid 7 thread and all you get is everything in between posted before the thread with those relevant words. if i wanted to search 6 pages of threads to find that one, i would just do it, not waste my time using the search bar.

The problem with the searchbar is that if you type two words in it will find either a thread with one of the words in the title or a thread with another one of the words in the title - never both together, thus ensuring me that I will not find the desired thread.

i like this idea... if in quotations it searchs thread name. and then u could use keyword when u dont use quotations


or just the old search bar would be fine

the issue with the current searchbar is the same as with the video searchbar.

If you search "I Hate NY" maybe for some old edit, every result with any of those words comes up. I liked it best when the title had to have all of the words.

just my 2 cents, but the google one was the worst. please dont use that one.

i have the say, the ns searchbar could use a lot of updates and remapping. my dad, whos also a member, made a comment to me about this the other day. he doesnt use ns much other then to check mountains and the s/t forum and he was deeply upset that he couldnt find anything he was searching for.
