Just curious...any pilots on here...if so what do you fly? how many hours? favorite destination?

I fly C172R out of Rutland VT. 130 hours. Favorite destination is Block Island.

working on my private pilot right now. 38 hrs. flying a cessna 172R. overall goal is to work ATC though, just have to get this first.

Sweet dood! I was double majoring in Comm Aviation and ATC at UND for a year, but hated it cuz i couldn't ski. But ATC is awesome man, keep it up!

doing my private currently. fly my dad's 172RG, out of KOXC. favorite place is the hudson corridor, around lady liberty. crazy packed with tourist choppers, though. super fun to take BITCHES UP IN DAT

Piper Archer II, 45 logged hours. Im working on my privates pilot rite now but iv been flying with a friend for over a year.  Wolfs Run park is my favorite place to fly in thats close to me. But my favorite places I have flown to would either be NYC or Bourbon ST New Orleans but i have to say i think i remember more of my trip to NYC then i do Bourbon st lol

my uncle flew the goodyear blimp once but as for me never flown but i did sail the ferry from cape cod to marthas vinyard once had about 600 peoples lives in my hands felt pretty cool

the road to getting my privates was a long one. I started flying in my 16th birthday, solod two months after that got my hours up to 50, then went off to University of North Dakota to major in commercial aviation. I got my privates out there and got my hours up to about 100. Then i quit school cuz skiing is way sicker and i got another 30 back here on the east coast. Rough cost, 9k, but you can do it alot cheaper. If you go for it fly three times a week so you remember everything and stay sharp. If you do that you can get away with your privates for about 5 or 6k. Id go for it man...super fun. I plan to get some aerial shots this winter for our edits!

nope, visting my gf, visiting the grand canyon (ITS SNOWING IN THE GC!) and then cali to see some family. I looked at ERAU Prescott, which is a confliction of my views consider i went to University of North Dakota and Embry Riddle is our rival haha...but the gf is out here so...well c

Nice, I took a tour of ERAU Daytona and also Florida Tech but right now I'm going to college in the Northeast and just flying on the side......
I might transfer to a flight college, idk yet, how was ND? I've been told to check them out from a few people

It was sweet, i did ATC so i got to use the sweet sim labs, was flying glass warriors which was dope! But i dunno, im not a school guy, so if i go back to flight school itll be like ATP or something that wont make me get a college degree, not for me...if you decide to go to Flight School somewhere let me know...we could room if we hitup the same spot...

Definitely, I'm finishing up this year in NY, but then I really gotta decide, because flying on the weekends will get me my training for commercial, but, to get a job having the training done at a school is better.....how is Prescott?

prescotts okay, but as i said i dont want to have to get all the gen eds and shit like a real college, and thats what ERAU makes you do...i was looking at JetU or ATP... something like that...

my dad occasionally flies a Morane Saulnier ms880, at least he used to, don't think he gets the required flying hours to still be allowed i think...

you can google local flight schools...this way you can fly at your leisure with a CFI who you can get to know on a 1 on 1 basis...thats they way i started..

Yea, i started flying at 16 and at like 15 hours or so I went solo around the traffic pattern (i coud go to the prac area and prac maneuvers too). At 30 hours i got to solo cross country. (X-country is defined as flying over 50 nm to a destination, then back.

The FAA requires you to have 40 hours to get your license but most people get it at 50 or 60.

The best way is to fly three times a week if you can to stay sharp and current. If you do that you can get away with your privates for 5k. Look into a recreational license too. More restrictions but cheaper initially.

I won a flying scholarship from the RAF when I was 17 for 14 hours of private tuition in a Grob tutor fully paid for and expenses.. so much fun! I have 17 hours UI and 2 hours solo, i also do a lot of gliding (sail planes) and have a few hours solo in those too...

so much fun and surprisingly easy IMO, but soooooo expensive, need to get university out of the way first!

if you ever get the chance, i also HIGHLY recommend 'shooting the gap' at danbury (KDXR), runway 8. shit will blow your mind. come from 1.7 down through this valley, like a funnel right onto tarmac. sooooo saaaaaack

I am doing a double major in geography and aviation working on getting my commercial liscence signed off, I am currently working on my instrument rating and multi-engine. I fly c-152, 172, 172RG and Piper Seminoles (multi-engine). I just have way too much fun flying.

yeaaaaaa!

while my brother was undergoing actual pilot training, I was becoming the most proficient FSX pilot to ever grace the virtual skies. Sort of faded away though. Definitely a fun hobby though.

Supposedly they are making a new flight simulator, but quite frankly, I'm not even sure that my next computer will be able to run FSX well yet. They should have made a cheaper version that actually ran well on older PCs. Also why I won't buy the new one for a long, long time. I'd love to use it again though...I had so much fun with fsx.
