Proposal: No more posting edits in the forum.

Video section is going to turn into the photo section, dead. Everyone and their mother decides to post their edits in the forum and alot of people who make edits alot (including myself) have found you have to post them in the forum to get any attention because the video is dying.

So, my proposal is, no more videos in the forums. Please? I'm sick of every other thread being some stupid edit thats not thread worthy and i think the solution is no videos in the forums.

I saw a thread a while back where a whole bunch of NS'ers posted their season edits. Maybe having a sticky thread for everyone's edits could get rid of a lot of the extra threads.

That could work too. Maybe a top rated thread? I dunno, i think having edits in ski gabber could work but it needs to be organized and regulated.

 Like if there is a reallly sick edit and it's not up in the video section why not put it in ski gabber? I wouldnt mind seeing a couple edits in there every once in a while.

Every edit is in the video section first. 90% of the time its linked to the NS video section.

Well people just post it in the forum to get attention. Now if the video section is re-vamped then probably more people would go in it. Like fixing the way you search would make it more user friendly because after a vid slides off the 1 st page of newest uploaded is never look at again. I think a good search system would make the vid section more popular.

Yea. But like there were the JOSS edits that were in ski gabber that I remember, that werent in the video section yet.. And it wasnt the leaked videos either.

im not going to lie. i like it when really sick edits are posted in ski gabber but i suppose it does totally defeat the idea of a video section. i think when someone who is totally unaffiliated with the group who made the edit, makes a post in SG, is more acceptable then someone clearly trying to get views for their edit. if that made any sense. i think the only fair solution is to just not allow edits in the forums at all

i agree it does happen. i try to delete the ones that i see but people always want to know why other people can post their edits but they cant. cant be like "well because you suck"

I like edits being allowed in M&A, because that's part of it's purpose, but not SG and NSG. So agree and disagree.

Where do you draw the line of "sick edits" though. There is no fair way to do it.

I think in the videos section there should be a blue name top rated and an orange name because it is not fair for ams who will never get their video noticed because of the coulour of their name.

I agree with this. It used to be worse, but people (with the exception of a few) are getting the general idea of a thread-worthy edit. I'm all for deleting self promotions, but when someone unassociated posts it, it's enjoyable to watch if I forgot to check the video section. It's hard to draw the line, because right now it's a gray area. I agree with deleting it all and keeping it confined to the video section.

the girls on skis edit i just saw was terrible. It was of the same cinematic quality of the snowboard edits i made in the 7th grade.

I just needed to vent that. And it was posted in a thread in ski gabber. oyee...

I like this idea for sure. Not sure how it would work exactly but I'm intrigued. Same for Photos. Honestly I agree with someone's idea from an earlier thread about having a "Legends" section for Photos. So that the top rated in photos isn't all just RIP photos.

YES! And I agree with the OP as well, at least for the most part. The only potential downfall I can see is if someone comes across a crazy sick edit with which they are unaffiliated that isn't posted in the vids section. I guess that won't happen too often though and any other edits that are looking for critique or are not directly ski related can go in M/A and NSG. Plus, I really don't mind if that happens if it eliminates all the stupid/bad/shameless plug look at my edit threads.

Yep, but I think it should be more like every year has its own top rated. And then the current year has top rated for each month. And also top rated all time. And maybe even have a pro/am/random kid thing that you select when you are doing the video info so you can sort through which skiing ability you want to watch.

I disagree i love the consolidation of edits and information in the threads. Way more people watch it and if it is a terrible edit then it will fall off the first page soon enough. If you don't like the video just don't post anything at all (even hate) because that will only get the video gone sooner. I have watch a ton of sick edits off of SG that otherwise i would not have seen because yes, the video section is dead.... plus i hate the ads affiliated with the videos. not a huge deal but you have limited critique ability when you are only posting a tiny line on which to comment and you cannot put it into "my threads" for later to view again in the future and it can be quite difficult to search for some of the videos.

dude. stop. this is a skiing forum.

you literally could not find something more appropriate to post in this forum than a ski edit. you dont have to click on it. i can't even begin to understand why you would be bothered that someone would post a video on this wonderful forum that allows media in easy ways. you guys seriously gotta cool it with these rule proposals
