I personally feel it at least SOUNDS kinda whiney but honestly with how Nike made that commercial it was almost like they were directly asking Cleveland/LeBron detractors "what should he do?"

Basically, when most of the NBA fans had moved past it Nike decides to be assholes and bring it back up.

get over it. He's an athlete. He isn't loyal to anyone but the highest bidder. If a player says he loves the team and wants to stay, if you believe he really means it, it's your own fault.

I can understand being pissed...to an extent.

Yea for real. Theres a difference between being loyal to a city and having a city own you. Cleveland owned Lebron, it was just a matter of time before his departure and it came sooner than expected so get over it Cleveland. You belong were you should in the world of sports and thats at the bottom of the list. Even though I loved how the Browns beat the Pats, ESPN was sucking Tom Brady's dick too much and it was starting to irritate me. Plus I fucking hate the Pats and Boston sports in general. Yea thats right lower my karma bitches!! I'll be soooo offended.

Now the only reason why I don't like Lebron is because he choose to play in Miami with a super crew thats predicted to dominate basketball, although I dont see it happening because three super stars aren't meant to be on a team together. Trust me when I say that drama will fill the newsroom of ESPN once the season gets started and thats ALL you'll be hearing about.

The thing that I personally do not like about LeBron is how long he drew out the whole "what am I gonna do" thing. It really reaffirms to me that he is an ego maniac.

This was posted in an earlier thread so ill just repeat what i said in there.

I'm from cleveland. I've been a big lebron fan ever since his Jr. year of high school. I went to all his basketball games since St V's was no more than 25 minutes from me. What really upset cleveland was the manner in which he left. Most of us understand leaving for another team, even though we might not want to, in effort to get a ring. The way he did it was the biggest backstabbing, disrespectful, most idiotic way of going about it. There are still signs up all around the Akron area around his house showing peoples' distaste for the whole thing (i live 15 minutes from his mansion).

this one is right on Rt. 18, smack dab in the middle between my house and LeBrons.

He waited until the day BEFORE Free Agency was over to announce he was leaving Cleveland to go to Miami and also had an ESPN PrimeTime show to televise his decision. Basically he acted like an ego-maniac.

yeah. It was an hour long Sunday night primetime event. The actual interview was only like 15 minutes. 14 minutes 45 seconds of the interview was just bullshitting around too.

I think most people had a problem with the way he did it. I am from Ohio and I guess if I liked the NBA I would like the Cavs. I personally didn't have a problem with it. Why would any athlete stay here there isn't a solid team in this state pro sports wise.

Mostly though what athlete is loyal anymore? I can think of like 4 in the last 20 years and vice verse teams are not loyal either so who cares. I'm amazed people are still shocked by the way athletes and celebrities act they get paid to be dramatic and sensationalize everything.

last time i checked the term 'free agent' meant go wherever the fuck you want

Just the posts this far and the added videos have given quite a big laugh. It doesn't really matter because with all this publicity he will rake in more and more dough. I really don't think he cares if the entire city of Cleveland won't buy his shoes or his jersey...... and at least he didn't "rape" a chick for this publicity.

So one video represents Cleveland as a whole? And of course Cleveland is going to be a little butthurt. The biggest representative of Cleveland as a whole spit in our face when he waited until the very end of free agency to announce he was going to another team, chasing an easy ring and screwing the Cav's free agency options.

Like it or not, professional sports are important to lots of people just like skiing is. Cleveland teams haven't won a championship since 1964 in any sport, so having a team to be proud of was a big deal. Now that is pretty much destroyed by the man who promised he wouldn't leave until he delivered a championship. He showed his true colors as an egotistical ring chaser.

Lebron's a stupid guy, he probably couldn't divide 36 by 9. He went through basically no schooling, all he knows is basketball and the fame that comes with it, so the ego-maniac thing is expected.

BUT, Cleveland should really just get over it. They've been milking this whole ordeal for way too long now. No one cares about Cleveland(even though it is a cool city)

Know why? He didn't say shit like "This is my city" or "I am going to stay here and get the NBA title to Cleveland and I am not leaving until I do" and then wait until the day before Free Agency was over to announce he was leaving.

Favre didn't have his contract with the Packers renewed, he tried to come back and they said no thanks so then he just put himself on the market and didn't have an ESPN Primetime special.

how'd he screw cleveland? what just because he has roots there he has to be their indentured servant until everyone else is happy? he did a lot of good for cleveland and all you cunts ignore that and instead of rooting on the success of one of your own, you shun him like ungrateful shit heads because he's on a team that had a better deal for him.

Firstly, let it be known that I am not from Cleveland and would hardly call myself a Cavs fan (because I don't really enjoy the NBA that much, but they would be my team). But really LeBron was a dick about the way he left. The fact that he waited 'till almost the last moment he could before announcing his decision, thereby limiting what the Cavs could do in the free agent market and also that he made a one hour primetime TV event out of it I think speaks for itself. Sure, LeBron did do a lot of great things in Cleveland why he was there, he was really the city's only hope of achieving anything in sports and he left them...not saying that is a bad or good thing, but the way he did it was a big F-U to Cleveland.

i personally did not give a shit if he left or not. ive met him/ kicked it a few times, and if i were to express my opinion on him i would probably get banned from NS.

one example, he did a photo-shoot at my uncles house in Bratenahl and when they were done my cousin (she was 13 at the time) asked him for a autograph and he blatantly and rudely ignored her.

also i just found out that the people who made the response video are my good friends cousins. the farmer dude in the video is her good family friend also.

I feel like the butthurtness over this issue is getting out of hand. This happens all over the place, not just Cleveland. I remember being a little disappointed in Karl Malone when he left us for the Lakers so he could chase a ring but then again he had given us a good run and deserved to chase his own dream for a while. I guess the difference between Malone and Lebron is that Malone was a lot closer to retirement and didn't promise to win us a championship. Maybe the way Lebron went about it was poorly timed and ego driven but honestly he is within his right to play for whatever team he wants and if he wants to play with certain people more than others then he should go for it.
