top one looks split toned, green in the highlights and red in the shadows, the others appear to be cross processed and possibly split toned as well...

Guys, Im going to let you in on a little secret. Those last two shots, are from an iphone app called hipstamatic lol. Check here..

As far as the top shot goes, I wouldnt even say thats split toned either. And if it is, he didnt make the highlights green, more yellow than anything. He might of added red to the shadows, but I think its more the lay of the land.

yea i was thinking that at one point but i thought he was paying crill or someone else to sort him out video blog/photo wise? ud think if this was the case he would stay away from the iphone cam.....

You could prob make the top shot by messing with curves in ps. or the rgb scale and add a little saturation

i knew this. The first one though, doesn't look as iphone-y (if you will). or maybe that's just because i haven't used the iphone app. warming effect in photoshop?

despite, do you think the first one an iphone photo too?



I know there's some plugins that emulate cross-processing, I have a friend who is all about them. I've never used them and don't like them much, but I'll ask him what it's called if people are interested. You can get a similar look from some of them.

Paul Ripke does not shoot with an iPhone. If he does, none of it is for anything more than personal use.

The iPhone apps you are talking about are called Best Camera, Camera Bag, Plastic Bullet, or Quad Camera, all of those can give you a variety of effects.

eh. I didn't look at the blog so I didn't know who took that photo.

But I'm talking about photoshop plugins, not iphone apps. There's one in particular that emulates a lot of traditional cross processing chemical processes. It's pretty easy to use and includes a lot of control. I equate it to a bunch of the silly special effects filters, but I'll post a link anyways when I figure out what it is.

Ha yeah I know you are talking about plugins/actions that will do everything for you, but I think they are a joke. They are the equivalent of picnik to me.
