I'd honestly stick with canon if I were you, but I've heard good shit about hacked GH1s, I recommend just doing all the homework on both and make the decision yourself.

As far as feel goes, the 60d felt amazing to hold, it had good weight and a solid construction, the flip out screen is a unique feature, however making adjustments to the lens with it flipped out was a little awkward. But if you're using a tripod it shouldn't be an issue. As far as features go, I use a t2i so the features are very similar (recording format, firmware, recording to sd). Now this is a biased review because I have not even used a gh1, I am just giving you my opinion on the 60d, plus I have to give Canon a good review, I have been very pleased so far.

I've heard the same thing. search both cameras on vimeo. there are tons of comparison videos/demos etc that you can learn from...as Heath said, do your research. I think you will be satisfied with either, but see which sounds like it will work best for you...(I personally love my Canon, but also love my Panasonic HVX...so I have a liking for each company haha)

Considering it isn't December in 4 days, it appears to me you can't have a GH2 in your hands in 4 days.

And? It's not the same plastic as on a plastic bottle. Sure, it's not magnesium alloy but it's definitely not weak material.

Canon DSLRs are optically better, but the Panasonics have MUCH less alias/moire issues. If you're going to film lots of intricate patterns with deep focus, you might want a GH2. You may also even get sharper footage since you pretty much have to turn sharpness all the way down on a Canon DSLR if you don't want it to look like shit. But there are also more support options for the Canons...
If you get a GH2, definitely hack it.
