My uncle used to smoke as much as a train, he quit a few a years ago but recently they found operable cancer in his lungs he lost alot of weight got really pale. (hes like 6'6" too). They removed the tumor and he was starting to get some color back and was gaining weight. More recently we found out that his cancer spread to his kidney and liver, the only hope he has now is Chemo and that really fucks people up from what i hear.
What makes this especially sad is that this summer while hiking with my dad he told me how much of a badass his brother was when he was younger (my uncle). They both grew up in poland on a farm with a ton of other siblings. My uncle is the only blood relative i have in america besides my dad mom and sister. Back when they lived in poland my uncle was the only person in whole family who would go rock climbing, rafting and mountain climbing etc. he is the ONLY person in my whole family (both mothers side and father side) that did anything like this. Besides me.
my uncle and i had alot more in common then i had ever known about and now hes sick. its a terrible feeling.
+vibes to anyone else who has to go through this kind of stuff, you never know how bad it really is till it hits home.
