So I finally saw revolver....

...and had a few problems with it. First of all, the soundtrack. Reused songs, played songs that everyone already knows and just generally bad songs (the odd exception here and there). I know PBP can do better than that, especially the Justice songs and Coastin'.

Second thing that really bugged me is pre-arranged lifestyle shots. Lifestyle shots should be spontaneous, not arranged in advance. This is a ski movie not a Hollywood production. The most legit lifestyle shot in the whole movie was Sammy spitting out a mouth full of blood, you know that wasn't setup because he wasn't staring straight at the camera looking like an idiot. I really hope this doesn't become a huge trend in edits, its goofy as fuck.

I didn't like the fact that there were hardly any one rider segments. Every part turned into a bunch of mini parts, and the only one-rider segment i can remember super well was waaaaay too long, just something I wasn't a fan of.

ABD (already been done) stuff in the Edmonton urban segment.

The skiing. The skiing was incredible, probably the only thing that didn't bug me, it got a little repetitive with the whole BC booter thing but the skiing was so good it was hard to get sick of. Standouts were Charley Ager with the biggest switch landings I've ever seen. Sammy's segment got me so stoked to ski, he really stepped it up this year. Same goes for Ryley Leboe. And Walkers urban. Can't say enough about Walker's urban.

Yeh I agree man, I liked some of the songs and others i was like what? is this a joke?

   Overall i thought it was a good movie, i just wish Sammy and Simon's segs were a bit longer.

ive watched it a few times now and its a good movie. i dont really dislike the soundtrack but it isnt amazing. the first time i watched it i thought it was really long, then that feeling went away as i watched it again.

however, this weekend i watched it with some friends after smoking and every segment felt way too long. didnt even make it through the movie. tudors part takes forfuckingever.

reallly? are BC booters really boring to watch?? They shouldn't be, look at "That's it That's All" or any Nimbus webisode, that shit is the best. What gets repetitive and boring is over and over cork 7's and switch 5's on mediocre jumps... but honestly, between Dane, Sammy, Bene, Ager, Durtschi, etc. it was pretty impressive on the BC booter aspect. if you don't like bc booters then... fuck off. that's the REALEST skiing

Skiing = Amazing
Editing and Music = Dull
I enjoy watching sections of it now, but i probably won't ever watch the whole thing through again.

Yea i really liked EDIAS because it had more of a "story" vibe i guess you could call it that. lol but anyways tudors part was repulsive in my opinion its waayyy to long and my first time watching it i had to skip the last part. I just wish sammy had a longer segment and i wish durtschi had a longer segment.

This is true but the reason nimbus is fun (at least for me) is there different music along with different tricks. When its cork 7, cork 5 even double wack flips edited to dubstep or boring rap it is soooo boring no matter what jump it is (unless its like chads). Which brings me to my second point where the fuck was all the footage from durtschi and chads. Maybe i'm stupid but i only saw like 3 shots including the one of him tweeking his back again. I didnt see any huge overshoot that was in the trailer that got me psyched for the movie. Finally i thought it was to damn long, like 30 minutes to long.

sorry for getting bored of watching the same stuff in every single segment over and over and over again. it was sweet the first few times but then i got bored. if you dont like my opinion fine but dont tell me its wrong you fucktwat.

and TITA was different. it may have been mostly BC booters but nothing in skiing has even come close to comparing to it.

Lots and lots of backcountry. That is what I thought when I first watched it.
Skiing was amazing Belmayr (think that is how it's spelt) was insane, along with LJ, Simon, Sammy, and Jossi. All had killer segments!

So far this year I've seen Eye Trip, Revolver and Light the Wick. I plan on watching The Way I See It next weekend.

My summary so far is this:

If you want to watch the best urban/park skiers, get/watch Eye Trip.
If you want to watch the best big mountain skiers, get/watch Light the Wick
If you want something all around awesome skiers, get/watch The Way I See It.
If you want to watch a few bangers and all the left over guys, get/watch Revolver.

These statements are not set in stone, but I totally wasn't impressed with Revolver.

All the left over guys? Elaborate on what you are meaning, as PBP Has some of the best skiers in the game. A few bangers? There where a lot more than a few, the only thing i disliked with the movie was music, editing, lifestyle shots. Im getting NetWork this week reckon itll be 100% banger so cant wait, anyone know if Martini had enough time a shoot a full segment?

This. Great skiing but horrible music.

BC IS the realest skiing because of the fact that those mountains weren't sculpted for days on end with thousands of dollars to make it just how the rider and filmers want. The riders and filmers have to adapt to what there is in BC. Because of that no two shots are the same so I don't know how you can call that repetitive. The park videos are far more repetitive. A table top is a table top, I don't care how you try to break it down. I miss the days when film companies WOULDN'T put park in videos. Park was for training to take shit to the mountains and BC.

Point of post is: It takes a skier with far more abilities to ski on things that aren't perfectly formed just for their need.

i cant speak for the thread creator, but for me it wasnt the actual bc jumps themselves that were boring, it was just just repetitive jumps themselves. i seem to remember seeing like 15 double whackflip/dub flats/whatever you want to call them.



Revolver had incredible skiing, but some of it definitely should have been left on the cutting room floor. and the music killed it for me, so many reused songs, and so much glitchmob/dubstep/wompy music. my favorite part was easily JP's with the rush song. different, and AWESOME.

its a shame really, the skiing itself was amazing.

definitely the point i was trying to make. incredible skiing/filming but other aspects of the movie were not up to par.

and yes heath i forgot to mention lj's urban, another big highlight, most of the urban in general was really good in revolver. walkers taps just stood out the most.

I totally agree, both of the chad's shots were from the same angle and didn't really give a sense of how enormous the dub 10 was at all. There could've been a really dope build up to those shots, imo a wasted opportunity. Overall, I've never see a ski movie that took so much good skiing and just shat all over it with shitty music and terrible editing.

Also, all of the skier commentary in the movie was a fucking joke (i.e. every word that came out of Nick Martini's mouth), just more of the same banter that we always here from pro skiers. I wish ski movies would go back to more of the punk rock kinds of vibe that msp's old movies used to have, as opposed to this garbage dub step bull shit. Durtschi and Dumont saved the whole film at the end. /end rant

seriously, where was the other chad's footage? they didnt even put in the overshoot from the trailer, and the angle on tim's dub 10 was mediocre at best.

sorry to be a dick but come on, if i was a rider and busted my ass for this movie then it got completely downplayed by boring editing and music i'd be sort of pissed

i agree about the lifestyle shots. if they would have cut those out and some of the interview stuff (all of CRs stuff was good), then it would have been a much better movie. plus i thought they could have done without the night pow segment because it really wasnt that great. sure, night pow skiing isnt something a lot of people do, but its not something entirely new or innovative. and i didnt really get the point of the charley ager landing on hardpack. they showed about 3 different angles all of the same shot (but his actual segment was one of my favorites). /rant

i totally agree with you, the music was kinda crummy though some songs were good, the BC booter stuff got very repetitive and boring. The skiing though was awesome, crazy. I thought it was gunna be better. I also just bought workout by the meatheads and i found it much better than revolver, revolver had no character to it, just skiing and music.

The first ski movie I ever watched was Session 1242 and the soundtrack was AMAZING. To this day my favourite ski movie soundtrack ever, so I was a bit disappointed with Revolver. JP was awesome, Julien was awesome, Tim and Charley were amazing but thats about it. Didnt touch The Way I See It, at least for me. The skiing in that was far and away the best skiing I've ever seen in a ski flick.

i mostly just wish that the music was better

also, i thought that the interveiws slowed down the movie instead of keeping it nice and flowy. i felt the interviews were boring and were so focused on one point that it didnt allow any of the riders to show any personality.

does not all the mt bachelor features count as superpark? they had like 2 huge jumps, that sick railgap and that wallride thing and surely more. and there also were a lot of riders there. too bad they didnt brought more shots from there

i havent seen revolver but i have seen eye trip and it felt very seperated which i didnt feel. i missed the little group shredit segments with everyone slaying a rail or w/e feature. they did however do a great job at changing the angles of the shots for repetitive features in multiple riders parts

When I was watching it, it was like oh heres a new segme-BANGER

Simons segment was pretty sweet, was good to see him goin back and doin gorilla steeze and BANGER BANGER BANGER BANGER





Seriously though, after a while and so many good shots, I kinda stopped appreciating them. You can only be amazed so many times in an hour.

I cant tell if this is sarcastic or we watched completly different movies all i remember is spring park shoots and comps with a couple urban rails...Im gonna have to watch the full thing and then bitch but from what i have seen and heard the "backcountry" that everyone claims is mostly jumps. So stop bitching about people that the people who liked eye trip are ec park rats. Bc jumps are cool until you have an entire movie based around it and urban wallride taps

The skiing was sick.
It was way too long. I think a ski movie should maximum 60 minutes long.

Martini looks like Frodo from Lord of the Rings when they film him from his left side :)

I haven't seen Revolver yet, but this really annoys me too. It's especially around a lot in the 'gangster'-seen, eg. Harlaut (nothing against Henrik!) doing some gangster maneuvers tryin'a look cool, which really is sooo stupid, and you see it more and more coming these days.
It's all about being cool. I'm just sick of how every skier is just busy trying to look the most gangster and I'm not talking clothes here, more attitude. It's just about who can say 'stoked' the most times in a sentence.

Slightly off topic, but your comment made me think of Ahmet's section in Eye Trip. It's a banger segment, but at one point he does hand motions that seem to be describing how tall he was when he turned 5, 10, and then current day. But it is obviously intended to be some sort of generalized gangster hand gesture. It makes me laugh every time.

I lost a notch of respect for you, how could you say you were that stoked for the whole movie? Good skiing isn't banger when the song makes me want to kill myself. The same flat 3 1000 times is stupid after the 10th. The same face shredded (not the same i know, but so repetitive) line after line got so old. As a whole, the movie wasn't good, as individual parts it was okay. I would have cut out 40 mins of the movie (stupid interviews, repetitive bullshit, runon segments that should have been 1/3 of the length, etc) then it would have been a banger movie.

I'm not going to waste my time reading what everyone else has to say about the movie...but i do want to say one thing...Charley Ager had some of the most ridiculous switch landings in pow i've ever seen.

There i have given my 2 cents on the subject of revolver
