Any Thoughts on using leashes??

Need a little help, im finding it impossible to find brakes for fks's anywhere, im thinking about just riding brake less and using a leash, im putting them on my Night Trains and mainly using them for pow and the occasional park laps, and I want to know what people think of them, if you have used them?

yes very true, I don't want to be sued for my ski spearing through a small child.

uh, finding brakes for fks's shouldnt be that hard since they came out with them again. use a leash to spear yourself when u fall.

Are you implying I should Kill my self because I couldent find brakes?

Rossignol doesnt sell brakes seperate, and there are no shops in or around the city of seattle that have them.

i would rather buy leashes then try to bend brakes tbh.
patroller at my hill last year had leashes on his jjs with dynafits.

You should be fine as long as you dont tomahawk. Imagine how much that would suck.

yes, leashes would be better than riding brakeless, but you can destroy yourself so easily of you fall at somewhat-high speed, are rolling/flipping down a landing, tomahawk, etc. and have two large, relatively heavy objects being thrown back at you. honestly i would just try to make some other brakes work.

ill reiterate the fact you dont wanna thawk with leashes...

but it all depends where your riding...i ski in VT, where ice is prominent and pow, not so much. Breaks on the EC, leashes on the WC...

thats how i see it at least

just bend your brakes it isnt that hard. Unless you are 100% sure you will never tomahawk

i thought I saw someone tie a long ribbon to their bindings and stuff it in there boots, when they fell the ribbon would come out the boot and leave a trail for you to find a ski.

No the problem isn't making the brakes fit, its that I dont have any brakes.

Anybody have footage or stories about tomahawking with leashes? Everybody says it's bad but I've never heard of anybody getting hurt cause of it. The potential to get owned is there though.

A family friend of mine has received 26 stitches to the top of his head because a ski released, but was attached by a leash. He ate it, the ski shot around and the edge cut his scalp quite badly. That was back in the day when leashes were still encouraged. He never used leashes after that, however if you want to find your skis in powder easily, just tie a bright ribbon to your healpiece and tuck it into your pants.

all the old skis had leashes. but the made ski brakes cause when you crashed, you have a 6 foot long stick with metal edges falling with you. so i wouldnt use leashes. you should get new bindings or somethin. thats my 2 cents.

yes the chances of me tomahawking on a landing off a booter or off a cliff are possible, i may just get new bindings but if any out there may have extra fks brakes pm me il pay alot for them.

Leashes are good for big powder so you won't lose ski, but for riding around on groomers and park go for brakes.
