welp i guess those ppl who were defending the president in the other thread about how its no big deal to spend that much must feel dumb..

First of all, I'll admit right away. For the 2 or 3 days that this story broke, and there was NO ONE disagreeing with the numbers, I believed it. I mean, if Michelle can spend $1mil a day on her vacation to Spain, I had no reason to doubt it. I'll admit, I was wrong.


But lets be honest people. If this was Bush taking this trip, and the $200mil a day number came out. You can bet your asses that EVERY SINGLE CABLE OR NETWORK TV SHOW WOULD HAVE BEEN FLASHING THAT NUMBER EVERYWHERE. There's no doubting that. And there certainly wouldn't have been scores of people looking into it to fact check it. CNN/MSNBC would have told that story over and over again, as if it was from a press release straight from the White House.

And that's what pisses me off. It's a HUGE double standard for the media and the presidents.
