Through the finder, click on music, then open your itunes folder (make sure iTunes is closed first). In there, drag the file iTunes Music Library.xml to the desktop, and drag the file iTunes Library to the trash. Then open up iTunes and go File -> Library -> Import Playlist and choose the xml file that was dragged to the desktop. this should re-import everything the way it was and it should all show up. In case you think your music will be deleted, here's the article I use at work with customers as proof http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451 Good luck and let me know if that works for you
What I suggested often resolves issues like that. It's better than deleting the library or reinstalling itunes. For Mac there's not much to do when troubleshooting itunes other than those 3 steps.
I guess it is a personal preference, but I have had both, and I find the mac interface waaaaaayyy easier and faster to use. i've had zero problems with my MBP whereas my dell was really slow after a year of owning it and I just kept getting the blue screen of death all the time.
