What type of Wax do you use?

Hey, so I'm going to be waxing my own skis this year to keep myself riding fast while cutting cost. My question is what kind of wax do you guys use that is cheap and that will keep me going fast. Thanks

yeah all temp wax is definitely good, however; if youre gonna be riding in a big air competition, or you know you wont have a chance to wax your skis for a while, then i would say buy a few different temperature waxes just incase. they'll hold in your bases longer

not all temp though, i recommend getting 3 blocks of different temps, because all-temp wax is shitty compared to specific temp wax

Swix CH waxes, 6 for the colder days, 7 for the average days, and 10 for the late spring/early summer slushfests. i also use the 10's to clean the bases off and use as a base layer, then layer the other waxes on top. you can get the swix waxes for pretty cheap, around $10 for 60 grams, $20-25 for 180 grams.

I actually use gulf wax. makes my skis wicked fast when its cold
on warmer days tho ill usually use my sex wax for my skimboard

Do you guys simply melt the wax on the iron, let it drip and then scrap it off or do you have like our shop with around 4 or 5 different brushes?

it would work, but it wouldnt be usable as a house iron anymore. the holes in the iron are for steam which you dont use when waxing, the only problem is that they will get clogged. however it probably wont work as well as a waxing specific iron. its worth putting some money down on one.

Waxing (drip on, then melt evenly on base), scraping, then I use a medium steel brush, and then finish it off with a stiff nylon brush..

When it comes to waxes I mostly use Swix (CH/LF) through the winter and Rex (Base oil) for prepping new skis.

This, get a couple different temp blocks of swix. Also, it helps to use an iron that is made for waxing skis or snowboards, because they have a temperature control gauge and you dont end up just burning wax.
