See people almost die?

What up guys? So I was at Melting Pot with my family and family friends last night and this lady at the table next to us started choking on her food and someone had to bust out the heimlich but it wasnt working.
She was getting real blue cuz she couldn't breath and finally after almost 2 minutes, they're able to get it out and she starts gasping for air. Now, I didn't think it'd affect me so much but it was pretty scary being right next to that, almost seeing someone die.
Have you guys ever seen someone die, or get in a gnarly car accident or something? It's crazy to think that life can just end at any moment so quickly. You gotta live it to the fullest...

i saw a guy lose control and crash his snowboard really badly once

except he actually did die... RIP

when i was in junior high i watched a girl in grade 4 suffocate, turn purple, and die on a school bus. kind of a shitty way to die.

i watched my lifelong friend fall 30ft off a chairlift pole. i thought i had watched him die then. i called 911 and rode in the ambulance with him to the hospital. they had a helicopter there waiting in case he needed to be airlifted to a bigger hospital. he fractured two vertebrae in his neck and one in his spine, punctured a lung and cracked a rib. hes lucky to be walking, let alone alive.

I watched my friends get in a double roll over car accident from a car behind. They walked away but the girl in the passenger seat is my childhood bestfriend and it really shook me up as i watched her almost die. the tool that was driving later got in another accident a month later where he broke both femurs. taught him to slow down on dirt roads.

Standing beside a carnival ride at stampede this year when it just broke. 2 kids got stuck between the ride and a post it smashed into. and another had his face ground into the cement. fun times.

i saw i guy die at medows at hood once... i was going up and he was comming down at mach five caught and edge and slammed his face on ice and blew up.. he died of blood loss.  ripped his neck on the crash... it was bad.

MY LEGS ARE BROKE!

i've only seen one person die, and it was a close family member. I've never seen anyone die from an accident, although I can imagine it would be really scary to see

it haunts you. you don't ever want to see someone's eyes close for the last time. i can't imagine how awful it would be if it was someone incredibly close to you.

when i was younger i got pulled out of a car and got a gun stuck in my mouth by a black guy because i yelled "hey nigger get a job!" looking back now i suppose it wasnt the brightest idea

one time i was driving on this curvy mountain high way and i saw the minivan hit a semi full on. the minivan had drifted in the other lain on a curve and i was right behind the truck. i think the guy in the minivan died.

Me, my sister, dad and grandmother almost died when a cop car in a high speed chase missed t-boning our car by literaly a few inches. Not a great story, but I haven't seen much

seen two people almost die/maybe they did die while MTBing.

first guy rolled the 8-foot drop, then tried to back up without getting off his bike, fell 8 feet onto his head and snapped his neck, medics came and took him away, never saw him again.

second guy flying down to the boardwalk jump that you need to be going about 70km/hr to hit, lost control on the jump and slipped off the side, flew into a tree at about 75k stomach-first, slid down. ran over to check on him and he was coughing up blood. called the medics, never saw him again.

Not to shine the spotlight on myself, but this is the closest I've been/seen to dying. I got rear ended going 55km/h by a going going 150km/h. He pretty much smashed us off the road and we hit the other side of the ditch, then hit a tree which prevented us from bouncing into the field, then did 2 barrel rolls and landed sideways in a ditch. I was with my sister and girlfriend in my dad's 1989 BMW convertible. We walked out of it without a ding, except massive whiplash the next day..and a scrapped car :( Here a few pics

Other than that, I haven't seen anything happen, but there was a really BAD accident on the highway and from a distance I could see a long blue body bag and a yellow bin with the biohazard sign on it. Kinda shocked me... :S

Last sepetember these things happened to me within a 2 days.

i found out while i was gone one of my roomates had tried to commit suicide off of our back deck by hanging himself with a belt and the cops came to the house and managed to stop him in time cuz his sister called them after a disagreement at a family dinner between him and his uncle became quite heated. When my other roomate showed up back at home the belt was still hanging from the deck...

The following day when we were driving up to Osoyoos with my class for a 3 day wine tour and one of my buddies was just driving me and him up in his car and the rest of the class was in a van ahead of us by 10 min or so. When we are about 25 min from getting there on the side of the road we see 4 cars that are pulled over with their hazards lights turned on and there is an SUV in a farmers field about 35 feet down that is completly fucked and there are ppl running around and the dust is just settling. So we drive past the group get out and go to the crash site to find out what had happened. There were 5 guys in the SUV who all wern't wearing seatbelts and were going about 130kph when their back tire blew out and caused them to swerve across the road and start rolling where they ended up rolling 6 or 7 times which ejected all of them out of the car and ripping the back end of the SUV off. There were two guys from the crash who were just cut up and bruised with a slight concussion. One guy with a MAJOR concussion who was tangled in the barbwire fence of the farm and couldn't keep his eyes focused on anything. There was another guy who had been trapped under the SUV when he had been thrown from it and it had pinned his leg, and one guy that had severe internal organs damage with a possible collaped lung. People from the cars that had arrived first were looking after the ppl that were really hurt and i was taking a look at the guy in the barbwire and trying to get a blanket behind him with some other guy when i looked over and the guy with the internal organ damage was about 10 feet away and there was some guy trying to help him, the victim then began to have a lot of trouble breathing and ended up dying because of the extent of his injuries, I was unfortunate enough to be looking over when he took his last breath... the paramedics ended up showing up about 15 min after he passed away. They got the SUV of the other guy but it looked like he would lose his leg because of how mangled it was and he had a huge gash on his head and just kept screaming. When the paramedics arrived they pronounced the one guy dead at the scene and covered him over with a sleeping bag that had been thrown from the car as it flipped. One of the guys friends who was in the car and only slightly hurt just broke down and started crying on the ground and was almost unable to move he as so beside himself, and all of the guys in the car were between 20-25.

I've seen probably a dozen people die. Or right after they died (within minutes) But I'll tell a happy story.

Got called to an auto repair shop, just down the road from our firehouse for a man down. We got there, and a guy was collapsed on the floor, not breathing, with no pulse. I immediately started CCR, while another firefighter started respirations. Our driver started getting the AED setup, pads attached, etc. After the first round of CCR, we attempted the AED. I was on the button, so when the machine said that a shock was advised, I got to press the button to shock him.

Well, first shock didn't work. So we continued CCR and shocking for another 5 rounds, until the paramedics showed up. After 7 shocks, his heart started beating again. But still no breathing. They did an RSI and an IO IV into the shin bone. After a couple rounds of meds, the guy started shallow breathing again. They took him off to the hospital, and I found out 2 days later that the guy lived, and was already out of the hospital.

Cool Story Bro.

I wasn't close, but here's mine.

We live on top of a big hill and down probably about 1/3 mile away at the bottom of the hill there is a snowmobile trail through farm fields and stuff. I was out at like 10pm putting our dogs in the kennel when I noticed some lights on the trail. Normal, nbd. Then all of a sudden some of the lights go crazy like point up and around and such. Found out the next day that 2 guys had died when they hit a tree on that part of the trail.

when i was like 8 we were driving home from cape cod and i saw a ton of cops and medics and in the progression on the side of the highway i saw a wrecked motorcycle, like absolutely demolished with pieces everywhere, then about 30 yards down was the guy, lying on his back, i could only see the top of his head because his feet were facing off the road and there were people around him, and then another 10 yards past him was his severed leg with blood all over the pavement

only thing i remember from it was someone pushing me in a wheelchair away from a hospital while my parents watched crying. they thought i was crazy when i asked about it though. sketchy stuff.

A few years ago at Crankworx, slopestyle practice, I saw some guy overshoot the biggest jump on course and drop 30+ feet to a scorpian landing on his head. Thought for sure he was dead but he walked it off and ended up with only a broken collarbone.

In the summer I saw some drunk guy jump the biggest jump-able cliff at lynn canyon (apparently measured to 120) and land on his back, then dip under the water and not come back up. 10+ people dove into the pool to look for him and thankfully one pulled him out. Apparently there was no way he could have gotten out on his own, but the only damage he suffered was biting half his tongue off.

I'm sure there's a couple more but I can't remember them.

On a class trip to Scotland, we were going on a ghost walk one night, and the entire time, they had hired people to jump out at us on the street or make weird noises in allys. Towards the end, we were walking on a bridge, and on the road underneath was a guy laying face down with a puddle of blood around his head. We all stopped and watched as an ambulance came, and when they moved him he just kind of flung every where. Tons of people thought it was just part of the tour. No idea if he ended up dying or not though.

was walking to school in a group with friends in high school. train tracks go right by my school, where commuter trains go every 5 mins or so. saw another friend on the tracks, waved whats up to him, 20 seconds later we saw him jump infront of a train. he literally exploded

was just pulling out of stop an shop and a girl was flying through a red light at a huge intersection and a car that was going pretty fast hit her from the side and she flew like a ragdoll halfways down the street with no helmet on just in a t shirt and jeans. i was sure i just saw someone die but turns out she survived, crazy shit to almost see someone die

i was watching this aerial skiing show thing at orford when i was a kid and some crazy guy on a mountain bike hit one of the smaller jumps but over shot super far to flat. he was alright though.

Im a lifegaurd during the summer, so ive seen people start to drown quite a bit but I or another lifegaurd will rescue them before any imediate danger. Except one time a guy broke his neck and we had to activate a spinal drill. But ive never seen anybody shot and had them die in my hands or anything like your guys's intense storys.

I was driving on a quiet country road. The car infront of me started swerving all over the road. A big corner was approaching and the car just kept on going without slowing down at all. I backed right off, and watched this car go straight off the road at a corner through a hedge and into the tree.

I pulled up and called 999 (I'm in the UK) as I was running to the car. The old guy who was in the car was obviously dead. Like really smashed up. The emergency operator was telling me to feel for a pulse and try and check for any signs of life etc. I had to wait with the car and the dead guy for about 10 minutes before an ambulance and police arrived. It was bizarre as it was such a quiet road, and no one else was really around, just me, and a dead old man in a smashed up car.

The ambulance guys told me later that he had probably had a heart attack while he was driving and was dead before he hit the tree.

This thread is a little sad. I haven't seen any one cone close to dying, but my brother was in a car accident in which the car slid off the road down a ravine. The car rolled two or three times and came to a rest upside down on a little flat part. He and the driver were okay, and they just walked to the nearest house, which just happens to be a good family friend. God really helped him out then.

A friend of mine is an ER doctor, and over many post skiing hot tub beer sessions, he's told me some CRAZY shit. He spent time training in South Central LA and has worked in Miami.... he always said how even if the paramedics found the faintest hint of a pulse, they HAD to take them to the ER, even if there was no way they'd make it..... for instance, one story of a guy who literally, 60% of his head was gone... but he was brought in and my buddy had to examine him etc etc.... there was zero they could do for him, but he always tells me how it is actually very difficult to stop a human heart... interesting stuff.... that and how Gangsters are the worst fucking shot's ever... he'd have people in who'd been shot like 15 times... just in the arms and legs, and shoulders....and were fine, but it would take him hours to sort out.... he always complained about that - he was like, just be a good shot and hit him once.... all this shit is wasting my time.....

i live on a very straight road with one bend in it so naturally people drive way too fast then wreck at the bend, which happens to be at the end of my driveway.

I was driving behind this guy on my way home from school and since i live right at the corner i know where to slow down. I was following him at around 65-70 where the roads limit is 45mph. after the real long straight away i started to brake for the turn and this guy just sped up. he started sliding, went off the right then overcorrected to the left, spun 180 then smashed into a tree on the left side of the road. I parked in my driveway called 911 then ran up to him and thought holy fuck, he just died. look in and this dude was just covered in blood and what does he do? picks up the 6 pack of bud and attempts to drop it out the drivers side window, which as seen above was full of tree, so it just fell into his lap. they had to cut the steeringwheel out as he was just dying there. he ended up being in a coma then recovering after about 6 months.

i walked into the local bar a year later to pick up a pizza and a guy asked my name. i told him and he was like "im the guy you saved." it was weird becuase i didnt really know how to feel about it i guess. i dont think i saved him, whatever i guess.
