Longboard "ski" stance

whats this stance called? my friends and i just call it skiing but its mad fun cause you can do sex changes and call them switch ups and like pretend you skiing in the summer anyway here it is in a vid... anybody know what its called?
Its right around 0:48

this video s been posted here quite a lot, and yes, it's nice to ride like that, just watch that your surface is free of small pebbles and sticks because you can hardly absorb any forwar-backward wobbles...

try doing it on skiboots, it's even better because you have more stability :)

i dont get longboarding. its fun, but i can see it getting boring really quick. how many times can you do a half ass power slide and make turns down a hill before it gets old? those dudes should get a real board. a skateboard.

Well im pretty sure when you do it on the nose its called a hang ten? definitely not sure on that. no idea what its called on that video cause they werent doing it right on the nose.

I dont get shortboarding. its fun, but I can see it getting boring really quick. how many times can you do a half ass kickflip or ollie 3 sets before it gets old? those dudes should get a real board. a longboard.

I disagree. There is much more versatility with a regular skateboard deck, and I would find it VERY hard to run out of things to do with it. If you're bored with your kickflip, you step it up to a double, if you're bored ollie-ing 3 sets (which are pretty small to begin with) then you step it up to 6 sets. You can take a skateboard many more places, and the simple fact that you can ollie and elevate yourself off of the ground gives skateboarding a much higher degree of possibilities.

That said, I still love longboarding, it's great, and it makes me think of skiing/snowboarding/surfing, and nothing on wheels really beats that carving feeling when you don't have any snow. Just don't try and compare it to skateboarding and say that longboarding is better--they're both fun, skateboarding is just more technical.

Called "Mungo" and it's a stance that's generally used to pump, cause it makes it easier to torque your core. I really like that stance but I find it kind of difficult to make sharp turns on and keep my balance.

even bombing hills skating is more fun than longboarding, ever try a highspeed ollie over something risky? Thats an adrenaline rush right there...

Eh I love longboarding, it's just relaxing. I have a shortboard that is made from a skate deck and some longboard trucks and wheels. Keep it in my trunk so when I have to park a long ass way from where I am going.

I know AElot's argument can go both ways, I guess I was just saying that I could see how some people could get bored of longboarding easier than skateboarding. I really love both, and until I get snow in central Ohio I'll be doing a lot of longboarding and skateboarding.

Skatin is super fun but i dont really enjoy going down hills on a skate. The wheels are like rocks so you hit 1 tiny pebble when your going fast and your face is gonna get analy raped by the pavment in front of you. I started out skating for like 3 years then bought a cruiser this summer and its like floating compared to skating. I don't do tricks i just like to cruise and use it to get around. Longboarding is less technical but more relaxin fun like skiing powder instead of groomers. Maybe i just think that becasue i live in breck area and all the streets are coverd in dirt and are chewed up from the winter so skating in the streets is hella sketch.

i like doing switch skiing stances. idk if those have a name either. but just stagger your feet and cruise down mellow hills and make turns. its just like carving down groomers switch(except you cant switch the direction you stagger your feet)
