Assistant principal resigns after DWI charge
A Watauga High School assistant principal resigned Friday after being charged with driving while impaired early that morning.
Michael Patrick Murphy, 35, of 479 Kellwood Drive Extension, Boone, was charged with driving while impaired after performing "poorly" on field sobriety tests and receiving a 0.14 on a blood alcohol concentration test, reports state.
Murphy did not return a telephone message left Tuesday afternoon.
Murphy started as assistant principal at Watauga in August, said principal Michael Wyant, who refused to comment any further on the matter, stating that it was a personnel issue.
