you can get most of the shooters that are popular on consoles right now, and then some dork is gonna come in and be all elitist and say something along the lines of "counterstrike 1.6 or die!!"

Wolfenstein enemy territory dude!
its free, its better and has much smoother gameplay and a ton of custom maps + still many players!

otherwise my alltime favourite = Battlefield 2

I haven't played FPS on PC much anymore....but I used to play Delta Force 2 and Battlefield 2

Tried Americas Army for a bit...didn't really like it.

Combat arms is probably the best if you are looking for something free. I like that FPS alot and there is quite a few people that play. The only bad thing is that there is quite a few hackers and cheaters. but if your one of them its easy...

Valve games are all pretty sick but most of them are anti torrent ect. if your looking to pay Team fortress Two is really good in terms of how long it is fun for.
