-Remington 887 Tactical with red dot, flashlight, weaver mount shell holder
-Scoped Springfield M1A w/ rail system and long barrel
-Walther P99 9mm
-Glock G38 in .45 GAP, or G19 in 9mm
-MP5 clone in 9mm (H&K ones are illegal to import I believe)
-M1 Garand
-Mauser 98K

Holy grail of rifles would be the Cheytac Intervention...sooo nice (and 12 grand)

i think you can get real H&K's but you have to pay the tax stamp cause it's a short-barrel rifle, also i dont know if they make semi-auto variants so you'd have to pay a second tax stamp for that too. so you'd have to pay whatever inflated price the thing actually costs, then an additional $400+ in tax stamps.

here's my updated/revised short-term wish list (i hope to have most of this stuff within the next 18 months if i can):

snubby S&W .357 pocket revolver of some kind
tactical 12ga (remington or mossy, still undecided)
a bunch of parts for my AR, which has become a project
a nice full-size 1911
either a sig p226 or p220 Carry or a 3" 1911 (or some other really badass compact pistol once i finally get my CHL in a few months)

NOW, my LONG term wish list (shit that i hope to get SOMEDAY but either cannot justify or cant afford right now):

a Barrett...enough said.
a LWRC short-barrel AR (cause theyre fucking awesome)
a S&W 500
a luger
a Thompson
a Garand
a Springfield M1A (ill probably wait until i can afford to buy a short-barrel one and also go all-out and pay $5k for a badass full-size one with all the fixins...i am obsessed with these rifles)

Hm maybe one can. I just like the design of the gun, and I wouldn't need a full auto version, so a clone would do just fine.

tomorrow is the big monthly gun show here in Houston. this is the last one i will be going to for a while since finals are on the horizon and then ill be skiing for a month straight. im not going to buy a new gun cause most of my money is going toward gearing up for the season (buying a gopro, getting new skis mounted, etc) but i will be taking notes tomorrow on my potential purchases i plan to start making in february or march.

anyway, does anyone know how to pull photos off of an iphone besides just uploading them to facebook? i want to take actual pics of my wish list tomorrow and post them for you guys but i can only use an iphone cause flagrantly taking photos with an actual camera is sorta verboten at our gun show for some reason. my guess is they dont want any anti gun people documenting everything that goes on, or they dont want people posting photos of price tags all over the internet cause a lot of major gun stores sell there at like 20-30% off their normal retail.

so anyway, if you guys know some easy iphone advice (ill google it too when i get home) then ill try to post pics from the show at some point tomorrow when im not working on my final memo for Legal Research and Writing.

good to know, unfortunately my brother was late waking up so we only made an abbreviated gun show trip cause i had to get home pretty quick to watch college football and do some work...no pics, sorry.

Best thread/info on AR's I have ever seen.

Also...I really really want a PTR 91 now since I have been looking at them. I would get 20" barrel, scope (greater than 3-9 too), high scope rings, foregrip rails, bipod, and the magpul adjustable stock. So sick!

over the last few days ive developed a serious AK lust for some reason. ive been doing a lot of research and now im pretty sure im going to buy one soon. im just going to lurk around until i find the right one. im looking for a Bulgarian for a good price or a pre-ban Norinco. going to the gun show tomorrow to window shop.

Heres a serious wishlist of what i hope to buy in the upcoming year:

Tikka T3 Varmint - this will be my main coyote rifle. Probably get it chambered in .223 or 22-250 to be fur friendly since i sell the pelts. I plan on getting a Leupold 4-9x40 mil scope, Harris retractable bipod, and maybe another 10 round mag.


Mauser Kar98 - I love old guns, especially german weapons. I'd just use this to plink with. I'll be browsing the local gunshows for a legit German Mauser, not the knockoffs.


1860 Army Revolver (cap and ball set) - Its an old cap and ball replica, but hey, itll be my first pistol, and you can be 18 in Iowa to own them since they are classified as a muzzleloader. Plus theyre dirt cheap.

Saigas have legit, well-made receivers and are actually Russian. but i want a pistol-grip battle rifle setup, not a sporter, and Saigas are difficult/expensive to convert. if i can find one for super cheap then it might make sense to spend $300+ on a full conversion, but it's probably not gonna happen. on the other hand, i can convert a Mak-90 into a traditional AK for <$150 at home without any serious gun smithing, sooooooo...

Old thread...but yeah I have been looking at the FN SCAR lately and now I want one instead of the BM ACR. General interwebz consensus seems to be that the FN is better designed and more reliable.

The 17S is also in 7.62x51/.308...which is the caliber I would look for. ACR only offers .556/.223REM, with 7.62x39 and 6.8 SPC on the way.

Back onboard the Remington 887 train...I've decided i like it enough and it's less than 500 so I can get it. Looks pretty sweet and takes tactical chokes.

Let me know what your thoughts are on the 887. I always liked it but was talked out of it by the local shop, and went with the 870 instead.

If the christmas bonus is large enough from work this year, I hope to be picking up at least one new toy. Currently looking at a USP Compact .45, a Gen 3 G19, and a G21SF.

Will do. My initial impression when I saw it last year was that it felt too 'plastic-ey' but I rescind that largely.

You should look into the FN FiveseveN...not the cheapest pistol but it sure is sweet!

The plasticky feel was my concern as well. From the opinions I was given, Remington used a thinner walled barrel since it was all covered in plastic. I guess some people experienced durability issues with the thinner walled barrel. I still think it's a sweet gun, but would prefer to have some actual information on it before spending any money.

I've always liked the Five Seven, but just not what I am after right now. Maybe someday...

I picked up the Gen 3 G19 shortly before Christmas and love it so far. Probably will be getting something else in the near future as well, but this will hold me over for the time being.
