Same, from minnesota too. Some people say it's throwing away your vote, but when 13% vote independent, it's gotta say something to the parties.

Voting for a 3rd party at this point may seem like a throw away. However, when choosing between two undesirable options you will lose either way. Why not use that vote to show that this country has interest in a third party?
There is a large group of citizens that have almost no representation. And I believe that it is a group that is much larger than people think. Not everyone that wants less taxes wants abortion repealed. Not everyone that is fine with pot legalization wants an incompetent and wasteful government managing our health insurance.
Where is the representation for those people? Its too hard to lump everyone into two categories.
And don't even get me into the disgracefulness of the party systems, where each candidate is but a puppet for the party leadership, that is then controlled by the lobbyists. Someone needs to break that cycle.

i think this comment on the article sums up the validity of it
"The rolling stone proves once again to be a complete joke. Your view on the Tea Party is about as accurate as your placing Kurt Kobain above Jimmy Page on the all-time best guitar players."
You know your nation is in the shithole when people look to the Rollingstone for news and facts

a) I bet you didn't read the article.
b) Your wise commenter spelled Cobain's name wrong.
c) Sparknotes: The tea party was a sincere movement that has been co-opted by Karl Rove, the Koch brothers, and the money behind the GOP. They will be indistinguishable from the old establishment. Rand Paul has been forced to give up any belief that could be considered independent or interesting, the rich people are still in charge, and you fell for it again.

The "rich" still being in charge is arbitrary in my opinion. George Washington used large amounts of his own money to fight for independence and that seemed to work out for America. In CT, Linda McMahon (yes from the wrestling family) spent 40 million dollars on her campaign and lost. Her opponent was 120 million I think it was. You have to have money to campaign and run for office that's just the way it is. That doesn't mean they're going to be bad candidates.
