I just want to say one thing, regardless of how "unproductive" marijuana is it's only psychologically addictive so it becomes a habit, or something someone likes to do but there are no physical changes. Also what gives the government the right to control something because it makes me "unproductive", jerking off is unproductive too and I'm sure you do it.

I've known some alcoholics who needed to drink a twelve pack a day to keep themselves from having a seizure. You can die from drinking too much alcohol at once and it is way, way easier to get addicted to alcohol no matter what you think. You can't ever die from smoking weed. Legalizing it would save on law enforcement, 800,000 people a year get jailed for it in your country.

Maybe I have "blurred" perception cause I get high sometimes or but I just think you're out of your mind when you say "I don't see anything good coming out of legalization"

so your argument for legalizing weed is that it will save taxpayer's money by cutting down on the amount of people tossed in the can. you're going to have to do better than that.

heath is right. this is no longer about alcohol vs weed. it's about giving me one good reason why weed should be legal.

point is, it will still be illegal federally. that means the federal government will be upset with california. and how do they show that they are upset? by cutting off further funding.

how come there are other states doing fine without legalizing weed, and yet california feels that this is an option to relieve their debt. maybe california should look into itself and focus on the root of their debt, then applying the metaphorical legalization bandage, that will only serve as a band aid for their gunshot wound debt. they have to cut off their debt problem at the head.

Well, you missed the part about it not killing you... but also if you care, the mexican drug cartels profits would be cut in half if weed were legalized and there's been something like 20,000 killed in their drug war. But I don't know if you give a fuck about the people down there.

I live in Canada, it's easy to get, find and it's probably half the price and I don't have to go to jail over having a quarter on me.

And you know all the legal prescription drugs in the states caused more deaths last year than all the legal drugs combined.

I'm done arguing, I'm going to go live an unproductive life at school.

It should be legal because It has proven medicinal uses. Have you ever been nauseous, had trouble sleeping, had problems eating or just in pain?
Its crazy how much it will make pain go away.

Also it should be legal, because as an adult, I should be able to use marijuana when I feel the need too. And no, not while driving down the freeway. Treat it just like alcohol and give fines for people smoking and driving. People just need to not over use pot because it creates a bad stigma i.e. anathema thinks that society is already so damn great now, but imagines a world where apparently he thinks everyone will just be on the couch eating cheetos instead of working

Also, weed can't kill you by overdosing. Everybody knows that alcohol can kill you if you overdose, thus why people are more careful to not drink too much and then when you do blackout, you have no idea what is even going on, its not cool at all. Weed does not do that kind of shit and thus people use more of it because you can still be in control of your body

is their even a way to test if someone is high, as quickly as can be done with testing for alcohol at a traffic stop?

and smelling like weed or having eyes red, would not hold up in court. i could say i was around people that were smoking weed when i was cutting up onions. if your lawyer can achieve reasonable doubt you will get off. the police would need a way of testing that is more conclusive/concrete.

Clearly legalizing it will help with the economical prob as they planned to tax $50 per ounce, and yes the cartels will have a wall thrown in front of them (which they will just walk around). Nothing will change with prisons as it only legalizes having 1 ounce and last time I checked not to many people were jailed for that in California anyways. If they did pass prop 19 then I think it would be the first of many states to take such actions, but is it needed? No, i see way more probs resulting for legalizing it than not.

exactly, so when someone says "oh stoners arent productive" it's about as logical as me thinking, well, if someone drinks all day theyre not going to be productive, and assuming that they drink all the time, and instead of responsibilities.

take any activity in the world, even work, and if you abuse it and do it all the time in a way that disallows you from getting your other priorities done, you're gonna have a problem. but for some reason pot has this stigma that makes people think, oh he smokes, he must not be productive. tell me it's less productive than watching tv or sitting on this stupid website

and theron the day i listen to some goofy 17year old who sits on tinychat all day tell me i'm unproductive cause i blaze.. ehh nevermind no comment

weed is not a big deal and people need to realize that. the fact that people will argue that it should be illegal while alcohol is illegal are delusional. people being put in jail (in some cases, for longer than serious criminals) for smoking a plant that makes you think/laugh more and maybe get the munchies while people get shitfaced every day and night is asinine and only through the power of culture and cultivation could we produce a country full of people who will actually argue against the legality of it. stop wasting money and ruining people's lives over such a stupid thing. fuck.

I don't want to be a citizin of Cali to have to get medical marijuanna. Its the only thing i can do about my hip or my shoulder. It's a shame we finally get a chance then everyone backs out because they are afraid

I've heard rumors that on the proposition itself, nowhere did it say that if it was legalized that it would be taxed. Therefore leading non pot smoking voters to vote no. Could be false info?

dude. this is getting silly. there is no reason or logic in saying "well we've been doing it, therefore we should keep doing it." i can just as easily say that unless you have an excellent reason, you should not be arresting tons of people every day for smoking a plant with less harmful effects than half the legal things this country ingests every day. give me a break. ive already said we can save money and many people's lives by legalizing it (not to mention the logical disconnect involved with arguing alcohol should be legal while pot isnt, while alchohol is terrible for you and affects you in a much stronger and disorienting way) , and all youve offered for your argument is that you think people will go crazy smoking and doctors etc will be high at work. do you realize how weak your argument is?

Ya what about the children? They should be educated that weed isn't so bad and that you should not over use it and only when you need to. Tell them it is not for everyone and how to grow a plant if they want to. Its really not that big of a deal. As of now, we have dare officers scaring the shit out of kids showing them some shitty brown weed and how insane it makes you if you try it, that is simply just bullshit
