Nothing, its a state law. The only way it will effect the country is getting people convinced its the right thing to do. After cali taxes and regulates weed for a year, people will realize it produces mad cheddar and a revolution of legalization will start and over the next 10 years, if not less, it will probably be legalized by the federal government.

it is much easier to focus your attention on a select few which, in this case, happens to be the shops that currently sell it medicinally and even now a very small percent are shut down by federal agencies.

First of all, Federal Law > State law. That being said, pot will still be illegal under FEDERAL law. State law doesn't really matter. The DEA can still come in and fuck you.

Second, why would you want to put all of your dealers out of a job? Not only that, but let big tobacco companies jump into an industry they've been waiting to open up and destroy it by putting things like tar and formaldehyde into our weed.

Third, sure the tax revenue would be great, but it wouldn't have any effect on the California budget for at LEAST another 10-15 years seeing as it would take a while for all of the dealers to actually start paying taxes if they choose to. Most people will just dodge taxes like they do now.

So really, prop 19 just makes California look like a dirty hippy state full of potheads that like taxed, shitty weed.

Firstly president Obama has said that he want's to stop national law enforcement from interfering in states in which it is legal, wether for medicinal use or otherwise. And that's a moot point anyway, I'd rather have the buffer of it being legal in my state.

Who gives a shit about dealers? Fucking lowlifes that can't hold a real job, fuck em'.

There are almost 37 million people in California. If three million of those people smoke and/or grow their own weed the DEA won't be able to do shit. Arrests cost money and money is something no one has.
As long as state law enforcement isn't bringing people in than there is no problem.
The government hasn't shut down every dispensary in California so this leads me to believe they aren't gonna be able to do anything even close to as significant as Prop 19 being passed itself. The stat i found said around 150 marijuana dispensaries are in California (i don't know about that). Pretty sure the DEA busts up at least 150 crack dens a month which don't have signs advertising in the windows.
