we are visiting salt lake city this season and we are staying at the bottom of big cottonwood canyon. we are mainly going to ski brighton, alta, solitude and snowbird. is it worth the drive up to snow basin?

Snowbasin is sick on a pow day, it has some legit terrain, and doesn't have crowds compared to other places. I havent skied powder mtn. though.

But since you're staying @ the mouth of Big Cottonwood canyon I'd just ski the resorts close by, there's a good variety all very close in that area.

this. there's very easily accessible sidecountry stuff, but you're in for a world of hurt if you don't know what you're doing. it gets dangerous really quickly. someone died in a slide when i was out there last year, and he was a very experienced skier too, not some newschoolers kid who wanted fresh pow and ventured off the beaten path...
