Did i get any of you with the awesome thread name? Cool.
I'm real stoney right now (me and my bros way to say we're high) and i thought of a cool idea. how annoying is it to take everything out of the cart when you check out at a grocery store? they should make a machine, kinda like the xray machines at the airport... that you just walk thru with the cart and it scans everything at once
So yeah, think the idea would be cool? Whats up with everyone on late nite ns?real late nite like past roseanna and shit when the shitty shows come on.

That technology does exist, but is only currently employed by international shipping corporations to inventory cargo. It IS coming to supermarkets. My buddy's dad patented the self checkout, and is working with a company in Boston to do large quantity scanning for major regional grocers. On a side note, you guys smoked some serious shit. this is pretty out there.

That would be sick but people wouldn't be able to make it. Here is a better idea. Put A canvyer(sp) belt in the cart so then the dood goes up on to the cashier belt then have another belt that goes into a different cart.

It is a great idea, but does already exist. We talked about this a year or two ago in one of my computer information systems classes. They use RFID tags on the items and you walk through a sensor and it rings you up automatically and would charge it to an account you had set up.

Here is an IBM commercial for it.

The Stop and Shop near me has scanners that you grab when you first walk in the store. As you walk around and grab the things you need off the shelf, you scan them. When your done all you do is go to the self check out and pay. Thee end

nah this isnt what im talking about at all, im sure its quicker and more convenient, but cashiers wouldnt really do anything, and you could put more items in your cart that you didnt scan, so it'd promote theft
