Ya being able to have seen Jerry would have just been amazing.  Ive seen them 4 times and im going to see them Nov 13 in Chicago.  Pretty excited. I have a sailing regatta during the day then that at night.

Yes indeed. Dead tour last year, nothing but nostalgia most shows. Further has been hot this year. Fucking sick 4th of july show in maine.

i was a fan as a little kid, because my dad always listened to the dead, then i didnt listen to any for a long time, but this summer i put some on my ipod, and im back listening to them, and happy about it.

oh and my dad has been to over 100 grateful dead shows /claim

Ya I grew up listening to them just from my dad. 
This November when my dad sees them will be his 60th concert.

yeah dude. my dad was a major dead show, and hes kinda brought me into the scene. we're going to see furthur november 19th and 20th (i think) in massachusetts, then at madison square garden. any ns'ers hittin it up?

Can't really count grateful dead shows with dead shows. I mean I've only 4 dead/further shows and some ratdog and other side projects, but dead tour last year was pretty rough.


Plus tickets were cheap, touring was easy.

With Phil and Weir still playing today they are killing it.. still great music and a complete jam sesh.

But the original group playing in the 60s and 70s were just phenomenal, no band has ever matched the jam sessions and extreme flow the dead had to offer. If you appreciate that kind of music and just can sink into it and relax it is truly amazing.
Because Phish is really the only band taking after them in a way.  And dont get me wrong I love phish but they just dont compare to the Grateful Dead.  So im hoping that as time goes by and I get older they dont get forgotten.

Phish doesn't compare to GD because it's apples to oranges. I love GD, and I love phish. Not anything alike other than jamming.

Both are amazing bands. The one band I take over GD or even with GD is Floyd.

i love the grateful dead so much. like most people in the thread because of my dad. He saw them tons of times but only once as "the dead". my 6th grade english teacher was also a dead head and followed them around during the summer when she was in college.

Ive seen them 4 times now but never with Jerry alive
He followed them around while he lived in aspen and when he sees them this month will be his 60th concert

And fuck yea dude I actually just bought some and I am going to do that.
