Interchanging Bindings Between Skis?

I might be purchasing a second pair of skis, but I don't have the cheddar to buy another pair of bindings. I was wondering is its a problem to use one pair of bindings for two skis and if it will cause any damage to the skis.

i cant remember what exactly they are called, but there are inserts you can buy that you mount in your skis and then you can remove the bindings and switch them onto another pair that also have the inserts.

i cant remember the name of the inserts but i am sure someone on here knows the name off the top of their head

i know there is some inserts you can buy. Not sure how they work. Without them, it would definitely not be good to take your bindings on and off all the time.

You can for sure put used bindings on new skis and it won't hurt the skis in any way. I put used bindings on 2 of the last 3 pairs of new skis I have gotten.

Blizzard Skis offers a system where each ski has a track in it, which holds the bindings (on a platform) down to the ski, and then you keep them from sliding back and forth with a single screw in the middle. Really cool system, you can interchange one set of bindings from all of your skis (AS LONG as they are made by Blizzard and feature the track system) and you can even have multiple holes in your skis so you can mount center for a park day and back for the rest of the hill.

It's really cool, but your skis have to all be Blizzards.

your options are either helicoils or bindings that run on a track that you can simply remove from the track, like the atomic 4tix bindings. however, I'd recommend just buying another pair of bindings, it's a bitch to swap things out and is just better for the ski itself if you don't always fuck with it

Honestly you don't want to do this. Get some good new or used bindings and they will last you multiple pairs of skis. If you take care of them.

Bingo.

Those things are the perfect solution. $60 bucks to setup two skis to be able to use a single pair of bindings. Hell of a lot cheaper than a second pair of bindings.

Good top see someone took advantage of the opportunity and started offering those.

i still have some lines with the pre drill for the reactor bindings but i never had the binding for it

i know this works with a special mount for a lot of telemark skis, but i don't know of anything for regular binders

mine won't. I did talk to my mechanic about it, he's a flake though, so who knows. Personally, I'm looking into it for the future. I'm remounting all my stuff with them, then function testing it after each use to see if there is any difference in the system. I'm assuming, like snowboard hardware, you should tighten the screws after each use.

I'm extremely interested in the idea, we'll see how it works out.

Loctite Blue 242. Works great in those situations with metal on metal. Strong enough to hold it tight from vibrations, but actual rotational force will break the bond free.

I can understand shops being hesitant on this. It's a great product and in offers only benefits to its users; however, in their eyes it is both unproven and also takes away the sale of a binding.
