Waxing skis in a dorm room?

has anyone ever done this?
I just picked up a pair of skis specifically for pipe, so i want to keep the bases real slick and clean by waxing them regurlarly. ufortunately, the only place i can do this is in my door room and its a fairly smelly process. just wondering if anyone has done this without smelling up the entire floor.

Shouldn't be that bad dude plus wax smells good IMO, just scrape outside.

yeah i had some swix was that smelt phenomonal. but apparently our smoke/heat detectors are crazy sensitive. some girl was straightening her hair at like 8am and set off the alarms. needless to say, everyone was rather upset.

I can definitely see something like this happening while waxing. If you are careful about setting the temp low and carefully working your way up there's a chance you could get away with it. Just make sure you put a towel, tarp or something down so the wax doesn't get all over your floor. If you risk getting a fine for setting of the smoke detectors you might as well just do it outside.

Open the window or door for smoke ventilation. Use a tarp or newspaper to clean up the wax.

used to do it all the time in college, just open the window and door to get airflow.

i used to have wax seshes in my room with a bunch of people, get drunk and wax our skis haha, but never had any problems.

i did it all the time with no problem. if you are worried about it smoking leave your window open and a fan on. but you should be fine. and it smells fantastic.

i even scraped inside. just get one of those little hand vacuums to suck up all the shavings. or lay down some newspaper.

wax, especially those with fluorocarbons can be bad to inhale..just do it outside

When i was in college everybody came to school with like 50 blank cd's. They come all stacked with a nice clear plastic cover that resembles a plastic bowl. We tapped that over the smoke detector. It fit perfectly and was barly noticable because its shaped just like the detector.

I do it on carpet in my house. I don't lay anything down underneath anymore because as long as you don't step all over the wax shavings, it comes up with a vacuum cleaner really easily. Treat them skis good and do it!

if all else fails, you could buy some cheap non melt wax that you just rub on the surface, sould keep them nice

i think i'll try it once and if it doesn't work out i'll just go outside. i just need to make sure i have an outlet to plug my iron in outside

I wax/tune skis in hotel rooms all the time. Just lay down a sheet or tarp or something and make sure you don't burn the carpet with the iron. Scrape outside. Just be smart and you won't have any mess.
