people back then used weird large cone like hearing devices if they had trouble with hearing things

yea, ear trumpets. thats what i thought at first too, but an ear trumpet wouldn't be held like that.

clearly. I looked at it for 2 seconds, and immediately eliminated the very thought that she could possibly ever be doing any of hundreds of other things.

perhaps it's god in human form, trying to find jesus so they can go out to eat before the movie.
